Anyone know what the price difference is between 4pks and 6pks of Xtra and Furious?

At full-price, Furious should be about $10.99/6 and Xtra should be $8.99/6

That's not quite accurate. 6-packs will be about a dollar more than the 4-pack counterparts. So I guess for those they will be going up, but it's not apples-to-apples.

4 packs are 16oz cans, 6 packs are 12oz cans. 64 vs 72 oz total.

I liked Overrated too but I guess we are in the minority.

Anyone try the Staycation Pineapple Lactose Vanilla Milkshake IPA? At $19/4pk, I passed down here in Iowa but am curious about it. Enjoying DAF and Sleek more than I expected.

So it's January and I just found a bottle of Darkness on the shelves in IL. Is that rare? I was surprised because I'm so used to Dark Lord Day

Shelf turd at this point and not special in today's market. Should be canned and available year round or at least available seasonally. They should continue to bottle BA Darkness though and any variants.

Fair enough. It's my birthday and I've never had it before. Saw it on the shelf and got excited. Actually it was in the cooler so I didn't even need to chill it. It's pretty good but, not sure I would spend $24 or so again for it. I was just like "holy shit that's the first time i've ever seen this on the shelves before". Just so used to this fake hype over imperial stouts living 10 minutes from three floyds and about 45 minutes from goose island that makes the second most hyped stout in the area.

"Shelf turd" means "not intentionally underpriced/underproduced for the marketing purpose of generating artificial scarcity." Would that all beers were shelf turds! Fresh, classic, hops-forward Darkness always had been superior to any of its increasingly silly variants, including the barrel-aged versions. That said, I found this year's Darkness to be a mess upon trying it on tap (seemingly under-attenuated, perhaps to accommodate the new variants and the sugar-demanding palates of the many newer converts to craft beer) and passed on it in bottles for the first time ever.

While I totally agree that this years Darkness was unreasonably sweet, don’t blame it on the NE IPA. There have been plenty of unfortunately sweet years, including the almost undrinkable 2008 (which was sandwiched by two of the best years) and 2014 as well.

Good on Surly. Fuck this artificial scarcity bs. I remember getting off the plane in Minnesota and heading straight there in March. Lo and behold BA darkness on draft. I would go apeshit if I saw dark lord on draft this afternoon at three Floyd's. I hate fake scarcity

That's a little steep on pricing if you ask me. I also heard that the beer itself is not that spectacular. Personally I'm so over 4 packs and tall cans.

Your assumption is right on the money per someone I talked to that works for Surly.

Just saw there was a big price drop on Todd the Axe Man... did the recipe change or did they realize that the original price point just doesn't work anymore?

How much is it now? I haven't bought it in years due to the price, that will change if it's now $12 or less a 4 pack.

Went to Total Wine a few days ago and Surly's lineup was pretty depressing: out of the 11-12 beers there, I recall 8 of them were IPAs. Furious, Overrated, Sleek, DAF Brut, One Man Mosh Pit, Todd the Axe Man, Abrasive Ale, and maybe one more I'm forgetting. Plus Xtra Citra which could GTFO for all I care. Cynic Ale was bought out. Bender was down to its last 3 boxes, all of which I bought.

I'll keep drinking Furious and Coffee Bender as long as they keep making it. Seeing Bender and Cynic go is really depressing, as those were the other two Surly beers I bought on a regular basis. Fortunately Bent Paddle makes a great Brown Ale.

I am thrilled about the monthly releases, however.

One Man Mosh Pit was $16.99 at Total Wine. Abrasive Ale is also around that. I'm (completely) guessing they don't want to have more than a ton of beers at the super-high price point.

Bent Paddle makes a brown ale?

Just checked... I guess it's a black ale. But it tastes pretty similar to Bender. Close enough for me haha.
