And Prop '13 and '14...really wish they'd go back to using the rye-aged barrels for Prop....

Ugh. I almost blocked that party out of my mind. What a total shit show.

They’ve come a long way since that day.

I guess we should also include Cherry Rye and Backyard Rye.

@Nbrock24 brought up the Scotch barrel Prop that they created the label for and ended up releasing as the Cooper Project, so they seem comfortable with just about any type of whiskey barrel for the Bourbon County series. I'd probably chalk it up to coincidence though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If they can source enough Apple Brandy barrels, I wouldn't put it past GI to use them in a future release, whether it's a double barrel version or it's own variant.

GI hasn't released a single barrel, non-additive stout under the BCBS name, have they?
    Scotch barrel- Cooper's series
    Wine barrels- Brasserie series

The rye barrel examples all have additives.

I would drink Baudonia over Reg every year probably forever.

Not being a liquor person, this might be ignorant. But I see the cooper projects all say Bourbon barrel aged. Now I know scotch and bourbon are both whiskey. But with differences. So were they Scotch whiskey aged and mislabeled as bourbon?

The Islay was released as Barrel House Series not Cooper Project.

this is correct. if you like scotch it was the best deal in the world. 14$ 4 packs at the brewery.

Everything from 2012-2014 Bourbon County-related from bottles released to one-off's at festivals was really, really good. I'm not smart enough to know if they were at the perfect scale to produce this type of beer and its variants but man they really nailed it during that window.

How closely does it resemble Brasserie Noir? I'm a red wine barrel *****, but that is one of my all time favorite "variants" and it still shocks me how under-hyped it was. Bought a bunch when released and more when it was available to go this year as well.

It was a shit show. Hour long waits for BCS. Lines that basically turned into a mosh pit, and had people pushing.

They ran out of water on a 90 degree day.

But....they definitely learned, and every party since has been dope.

Some guy named laffler was also in charge of the barrel program during some of that time period.

I was talking about the 25th Ann. party at the brewpub, not the 25th ann. block party (thought I enjoyed that as well as one of the first people in I was able to secure all the good things before the lines became ridiculous).

Oh. That makes way more sense.

I got To try the Napa at the block party when I first walked in, and then it got bananas.

I can't speak to Islay, but Goose's Twitter folks confirmed to me that the Cooper project scotch barrel was the same beer they were pouring at Fobab as Scotch Barrel BCBS.

They likely changed the name so people wouldn't attribute the beer to the BCBS line. Very polarizing stout.

BN is a good beer, but Napa was world-class. BN just doesn't have the full-body, chocolate and wood/barrel that you get with Bourbon County. If you like BN, then you will cream your shorts over Napa.

Coincidentally, my user pic is from the 25th anniversary party at Clybourn where Napa was poured.

BCS Napa is one of the best beers I've ever had in my life. And I believe that Netflix and Chill the beer that was on when the taproom first opened is the same beer. So if you had Netflix and Chill you probably had BCS Napa.
