Someone who is prone to getting migraine headaches but with very few identified triggers. One of them happens to be lager beer. I seem to do fine with virtually every other beer I have tasted.
But every single Lager beer I've tried in the last 3 years regardless of who the Brewer is gives me a migraine.
I'm wondering if anyone has any idea why that might be? What specific ingredients might be different in lager beer? Are there any products of the process that is unique to lager manufacturing?
    Thanks!

Water, hops, yeast, malt. You can add adjuncts, but every beer I suppose shares these traits.

Could be the adjuncts such as corn and rice. OP - have you had any allergy tests, and if so do you have sensitivity to corn or rice?

Every lager? I’d understand a Schlitz headache, but there’s a big difference between aals and craft lagers, pils

I have been waking up with a splitting headache after drinking really hoppy beers.

    Enjoy

Any lagers in particular? I suffer from migraines, unknown triggers other than exercise. Is alcohol inflammatory?

I have a reaction to rice in beer -- whether from malting or fermentation, I'm not sure. All I know is that I can drink 3 swallows of a Budweiser and immediately feel hungover -- with a splitting headache that feels very migraine-like @Toolate .

This even happens with other beers that have rice in their grain bills (Capital in Wisconsin used to brew a very nice beer with Wild Rice that used to leave me very foggy and hurting the next morning -- even after only one beer), including home-brew clones of Budweiser. I know, why? But some brewers do it and enter their beers in competition.

And yeah -- you can't single out lagers, you have to look at the ingredients.

The only thing I can think of specifically would be lager yeast.

When I was growing up in Wisconsin in the 60's (yes, grew up completely in 10 years) I recall Grain Belt and Hamm's having a reputation as headache beers since they instantly gave some folks headaches.

Had my share of Hamm's (also "growing up" in the 60s...and 70s) and a few Grain Belts here and there -- neither effected me like Bud would.

I remember a local distributor of better beers (he worked with Merchant DuVin in the mid-80s) showing me a list of "allowable" chemicals and preservatives that could be used in beer. He said a lot of the bigger boys used them and they were a certain cause of those ugly hangovers most people got. Dunno, but I can attest that overindulgence is as big a cause as anything.

My wife loves belgian wit/wheat beer(s), and every time she drinks them.. almost immediately her cheeks get rosy red and have a slight tingle.
Growing up, I couldn't tolerate any AB brew, without getting a headache. Not a migraine, but a dull run-of-the-mill headache.

Must of have been boom market for Bayer in Minnesota back then, seeing as in the 1960s those two brewers' brands made up over 50% of the beer market locally.

Yeah, they were more popular in Minnesota than Wisconsin. In Western Wisconsin, PBR, Old Style, Old Milwaukee, and Leinenkugel were the big dogs. Must be why Minnesotans were always so ornery, along with being stuck with the Vikings.
