Imagine giving anything Trillium makes a 4 on Untappd. People need to know they actually make 3-3.50 beers with the high exception of Bourbon Barrel stuff and Cuvee

But sure, let’s pretend we’re rating gods. Meanwhile Joe Shmoe just gave DDH Congress (new fermentation) a 5 out of 5.

I only went there to read the comments - and they still rated the infected stouts at 3.75-4.50

Asinine app with highly ill-informed users

Yeah, I am drinking a DDH Scaled right now and it's pretty GD delicious. By no means a 5/5 but definitely over 4.

Lmao... I just think it’s kind of weird this guy keeps posting super hateful stuff about them. Are they really that bad? I don’t think so. Everyone has their opinion but I think saying people should know their beers are 3-3.5 is ridiculous. I didn’t see all this hate before the controversy stuff. People need to move on.

It doesn’t mean it’s a wide spread thing... I’m going to open my bottle soon to see for myself.

I had 2 bottles of Macaroon that were fine. I opened one several months later to share with a friend that missed the release and it was still fine without keeping in the fridge. It’s possible that some bottles got infected but like you said definitely not a widespread thing because this is the first I’ve heard of it, and the beer is almost a year old at this point, so if it was heating up during the summer or just generally not kept well to age then it could have spoiled I guess. It’s always good when proof/evidence is provided with a claim too but we can’t always get that. He still never said what he was getting for infected notes. A lot of trillium stouts have a dark fruity flavor and they are not infected.

As I was in the Canton area today I swung by Trillium and got a 5oz poor of both A Street and Perm 76. Both were solid.
I got a four pack of each of the following - A street, DDD Sleeper, Scaled and Vicinity.....and not just to please me but my wife as well! Who chastised me for not having any ipas in the fridge the other day!

Resilience. Haha. You mean the beer that isn't even theirs that they brewed for charity?

Permutation 75 (Belgian IPA) is one of the best Trillium beers I've had in a while. Much less sweetness and heft than the rotation IPAs. Not to be missed.

How “belgiany” is it? Any Phenols at all?

Good news - you can get another bottle tomorrow to further investigate how widespread the infection issue is.......

I thought it had a little bit of a clove taste and lots of bubblegum notes. I wasn’t really getting the typical banana though. It’s very hoppy and citrusy/tropical. The wheat middlings in the recipe are impressive as well I think, providing a great body and feel.

I was out at clove. I’m actually pissed there is a huge sector of well made beer that I can’t stand. That Belgian yeast ruins it every time for me.

I thought the lime grapefruit orange citrus hoppy flavors covered up most phenols but I was getting a hint of a slight cloveiness but not really spicy phenolic clove. The bubblegum notes were strong. It’s definitely a different style of IPA. I like it for what it is, and with the NE IPA profile it is different than most Belgian IPAs on the market here.
