So is the catch going to be it is 365 cans of 312 or a barrel of 2014 soured Bourbon County Barleywine?

This is a quote from Goose about their barrel aging program. Worth mentioning here.

Hope that translates into even better BCBS over the next few years. It certainly seems like GI has the upper hand to source the best possible barrels when you factor in their size compared to other barrel programs. You can read the whole article here:

When I read that same section, is it bad that my first thought was not "Bigger and better things are coming for BCBS" but instead "Here comes ABI to corner the bourbon barrel market and by extension the BBA stout market"???

There aren't enough shelves in the world for all the turding bcbs....

It's all BCBS BS. They barrels are so scarce for the volume they do they took whatever they could get and wound up with infections in 2015 so they had to raise the standards of acceptable barrels to prevent further issues (only accepting wet barrels). Not sure the quality is going up, just reducing the likelihood of putting poorer quality stuff out.

That being said, they do need to keep on the look out for barrels from higher end bourbons so they can continue to make unique Reserves or Rares or, gulp, even do what FiftyFifty does with putting out like 10 single barrel versions a year.

Unsure if this will get deleted like our discussion yesterday (which I thought was goose/beer related enough) as it's not explicitly about bourbon county 2018 but Triple Barrel is going on tap at Fulton tomorrow.

Very interesting. Where was the info posted they’d be having the Triple Barrel BCBS at Fulton?

I’m pretty sure the infection came from the transfer equipment, not the barrels themselves.

    It was the barrels.

I also check their tap list on the website/Untappd every once in a while and it was on there yesterday but wasn't sure how long it had been there.

The 2015 infection was not from the barrels.

They added it to Untappd on Monday I believe but normally they don't open until Wednesday, but they're closed today, so tomorrow will be the first chance at it

Not according to what GI thinks.

    https://www.chicagobusiness.com/art...goose-island-recalls-two-bourbon-county-beers

"Ken Stout, Goose Island's president and general manager, said the brewery has worked for months to identify the source of the contaminant. Its working theory is that the lactobacillus lurked in the tanks used to transport the beer from the brewery's barrel-aging warehouse to its Fulton Market bottling facility."

C'mon, his name is "Ken Stout," he's obviously a fictional character GI made up.

haha, I think the article linked by @ChiPez66 does a good job summarizing what the ultimate issue with the 2015 infection was.
There's a bit more underlying what all happened, but suffice it to say, the infection didn't originate in the barrels.

Goose Island (Fulton or Clybourn) doesn’t update their beer lists linked in their websites on a regular basis. I mentioned it to both locations in the past, Fulton updated weekly for a few weeks and then dropped regular updates, Clybourn continued with infrequent updates.

I find their Twitter accounts to be the best source of new release or availability updates for the two locations.
