My wife was told she could not bring any beer outside to me (in the line), we tried doing exactly this and were told no by the guy at the door. This was at last years DBVSOD release so maybe things have changed or we were just unlucky because literally everyone around me had pours of the cherry rye vsoj, I was pretty butthurt.

Do you know what door she tried to go out of? If she went out the main door back to Kedzie, then I have seen/heard that same thing happen. However, I have walked out the door that leads to where the can sales are and have had no issues. I think it was just your wife having a case of bad luck.

That should be no problem. It's possible that the cashier might not know how to do that since we get extra help for the releases, so they may just need to slide you to a different station or have someone come over to help. It's no issue at all. It's common for people to use their $20 Rev Rewards credits at the check-out during the releases, which works just like a gift card.

You're correct though that they can't be used inside. That's our 1 downside of the system we have is that by using all computers to speed along the lines, and cash only to speed it along inside, we can't issue points for the draft pours during the release.

I think that's a pretty fair downside to something that has worked really really well for all the releases I've been to. The biggest issue for me is remembering to have enough cash (since I rarely carry much). :stuck_out_tongue:

Agreed. End of the day, I’ll save the same amount. I’ll just save it on 4 packs as opposed to drafts.and the cash only keeps the draft line moving quickly

Since I can't edit my post, I want to make it clear that "a pretty fair downside" was meant to imply that the trade-off was fair. Not that it was a large downside.

IIRC from this thread, the line for the Vanilla Deth release moved significantly slower than that for previous releases. Do we know the reason for it? I'm specifically wondering whether I should expect the same for Friday.

They got slammed with too many people coming in with babies and strollers. Had to push the rest of the line back.

In all seriousness - this is a good question. It was never a fast line, but the Vanilla line was basically past my breaking point for most days (luckily for me that Friday it wasn't a big deal). And there was a clear slowdown compared to other times.

Currants Day had 3 buying options. Weren't there more (due to leftovers) at Vanilla? 4-5 different packages? Perhaps that's why?

That's my best guess, but it seems like it was more than just that. It seems like something just went down for a while.

Yea, I suspect it would be the same thing Croush pointed out, where if she was trying to head back to Kedzie, that would be a big no. But let's see if @Veliksta1 would be willing to confirm bringing pours outside is cool as long as it's within the warehouse.

Either way, my plan was to bribe the beer nerd behind me with a free pour if they hold my spot. I mean, doesn't hurt to grease up the wheels, right?

Maybe some folks were bypassing the outside line by walking through the garage entrance door under the pretense of getting draft pours? I kid.

She went out the door that is closest to the receiving dock where the line was formed. The one where there are like stairs and stuff, im not really sure what entrance that is considered sorry.

This was my impression too. There were a few times where I didn't move for ~10 minutes. The previous two releases seemed like I was constantly moving. It also didn't help that the last release was very cold so it may have made it seem longer.

Either last release, or the one before, our system went down which caused luckily only a 10 minute stoppage. So if you recall not moving for that amount of time, that was it. Otherwise, the more options there are, the slower the line moves. You'd be surprised what 5 vs 2 choices can do to the speed of the line. This is why we try to sell as little as possible in those lines, but prefer not to leave out Deep Wood beers that are still available for those coming from far away. I think we're down to very little Deth, Cafe, and Gravedigger, so those should go quick on Friday.

Perhaps Rev could incorporate the little paper order pads employed by pipeworks and treehouse?

People in line that have to make a choice once they reach the point of sale vs. making a decision during the hour+ they've been in line (or before arrival) reminds me of this:

I totally understand this, but it's frustrating because I know it's not from the employees have different options to pick up and bag/box/etc, who are very efficient. It's ...

too many Lenny Leonards and Carl Carlsons for sure...
