I would say 'pastry' stouts are more of what's 'in' right now. Pastry stout meaning one that includes additions of vanilla, chocolate, cake batter, sprinkles, marshmallows, etc. etc.

Coffee seems to be at an all time high popularity wise, so it's only natural that many brewers use it. As far as historical or traditional relevance regarding coffee stouts, I can't speak to that.

You need to use more inflection in your script, cryptically. It sometimes works but is often called nonsense by a few observers here. Emoticons have cheapened electronic discourse. but what in the hell do I know?

I'm with you there. They should do one where Obnoxious Dude asks for a flight, and is sent over the wall via catapult; "enjoy your flight!"

It would have to be a flight of mead, because that's the dig they're going for here. ABInBev must be worried about competition from meads.

They've done beer, too. But, yeah, with that guy maybe asking for 4 seasonal choices, not just 'autumnal'

Makes sense if you're day drinking/ tailgating! Outside of that, wouldn't be my first choice.

Because few things in life are more important than worrying about what other people choose to eat/not eat or drink/not drink?

My controversial opinion of the day is that the folks who insist on plant based foods and beverages will starve in the near future due to the understanding that plants are sentient, intelligent, communicate, have societies, and feel things such as pain.

These folks will try to eat rocks and drink water in their compassion and better understanding of our place in the universe. They will die, and they will never drink another beer, as they consider the poor barley communities forced to endure yearly genocide at the hands of ruthless brewers, the hops bines kept enslaved then murdered,

I'm reminded of the cartoon where the lettuce is screaming as it's being pulled out of the earth.

This rant reminds me of the Rush song "The Trees".

The Maples demand more sunlight, The Oaks ignore their plea's.

Coincidentally, I am also amused by the things that amuse me!

But vegetarians not drinking beer with bacon, oysters, marshmallows, etc. seems about as amusing as vegetarians not eating hamburgers or pork chops, or any other group of people not doing the things they don't do.

As an amateur mycologist I have been privy to discussions of new research that in the future will show that those things I mention about plants, and specifically about the plant and fungus intelligence and alliance civilizations, are all true. There is no doubt we will be able to understand them as well and in the same way as we understand our fellow animal species.

And if you really want to get crazy about this, and considering this is a beer site, it is even possible that fungus not only is used by plants to communicate with other plants, but fungus might be directing things, including human beings from within our bodies. It could be our taste for beer and enjoyment of it is reward to us from our internal myco masters to cause us to bring reinforcements to their colonies we now have living in us. It could be we are nothing more than homes that fungus and bacteria create for themselves, and whatever we do in life is for their benefit, and at their discretion.

I mean, we do all realize that among our internal bacteria and fungal masters is S. cervisiae?

Compared to the completely incorrect understanding in all ways we have now I guess it isn't so little.

But in the way we have little understanding about everything, I guess I agree

Point was, how many vegans/vegetarians, hell carnivores, even are aware of that? Out camping, won't eat the burger, but will slam a bunch of Smores? Either hypocritical or ignorant.

My friend Katie is the most hardcore vegan I've met. Researches every beer, just to make sure they don't use finings. She makes great cookies, without using butter. How iz dat possibles?

Anyhooo, she's comfortable enough with her decisions to bear up under some friendly teasing.

    No cookies for you.
