Josh Noel is a good writer and beer advocate ... but that said, he definitely has an anti-InBev bias. He does not like to make positive comments about goose without also mentioning they are owned by InBev even if there’s no context needed.

Agreed. His tweet about the FG attempts not allowing former college kickers, etc. annoyed me. That seems like a pretty good job of CYA to me by GI.

Rarely is his coverage of Goose positive. It mostly always contains negative sentiment and includes references to the buyout no matter the subject. I read everything he writes for about Goose. And like Plachy commented, go check out his Twitter. He was even a dick when they brewed a hazy IPA for their employee who's battling cancer. It's gone a little far

Here's an example of him using his Twitter account to manipulate his followers into thinking that AB/Goose is up to something insidious. We can all agree that AB dismantling the Green Line Project and selling Green Line nationwide because 312 Urban Pale bombed is a huge betrayal. It really sucked. But now years later Goose will say OMG or Next Coast is Chicago only draft only, then a year later after its successful in Chicago it goes nationwide.

These 2 beers were not tied up in a charity project or talked up for years as being "only for Chicago". But both times this has happened Josh is like "REMEMBER GREEN LINE??? WELL THEY ARE DOING IT AGAIN! ITS ALL PART OF THE MACHINE!". And its nothing. Its a successful beer scaling up. Have you had all 3 iterations of OMG? The latest canned version is actually the best one.

But it dog whistles all the AB haters into being like "OMG JOSH YOU'RE RIGHT THIS IS WHY I ONLY WAIT IN LINE FOR BOURBON COUNTY!". And he retweets that and it perpetuates this notion that everyone in Chicago hates Goose or we're getting tired of their shenanigans. When in actuality its this vocal minority that has nothing better to do than be constantly joyless.

I've been waiting to make a retort until I have the time to dig up some things that he had said, but... literally he is not an "unbiased reporter." He doesn't just "report the facts." The lens he writes through is "ABI = Evil." His writing drips with it.

I'm not making a judgement call about what he is reporting, I do however make a judgement call on his apparent bias in how he writes.

Well if Twitter is correct, your alignment with GBH means you're an AB-InBev defender, right?

(in all seriousness, I don't really take sides on this stuff. if I enjoy the content someone produces, I don't really care about their stance on big beer)

I'm actually going to be putting the Nutritional Info on the cans of Bud Light. It doesn't pay well, but it's honest work.

That's actually exactly why I want them.

(not so that I stop drinking them, but so that I have a better idea how many days of food I need to skip to compensate during stout season)

Sorry to be off topic, but when will the labeling start? Do you have a picture of the nutritional data?

Aren’t you essentially a paid beer writer for an InBev ownwed publication?

You don’t think InBev is evil? What’s your bar for how many illegal acts a company can commit before you think they are evil? If InBev were a person they would be in jail and listed as a career criminal...luckily they can hide crimes behind corporate malfeasance and get off with a small fine.

You're missing the point. Reporting isn't about picking sides, it's about reporting the facts. Fuck anyone that decides they know which side is correct and tries to sway their audience by acting like they aren't bias.

That's why I won't ever buy his book, which BTW, has a title that drips with self-righteousness.

I dunno, they did sell out. I thought it was a pretty standard title, honestly. But I also don't follow Josh on Twitter, so I didn't really read into it much.
