This is true. It is all dependent on the garage, you're right. I'm attached, no insulated walls or ceiling, and no living space above. My garage is only about 2-3 degrees warmer than outside at any given time in the winter.

This happened to my frooted cans a while ago. It was the peach/pineapple/passionfruit ones that were released at the Henna B4 release. I put them downstairs Saturday at 1 or so, had to head somewhere else, then forgot to move them to the fridge for what I think was either 3 or 4 days. Every single can foamed significantly when I opened; for about 3 of the 8 the top popped up like that. About one-third of each beer was lost because of the foaming, and while the carbonation wasn't perfect after that, the remaining two-thirds was still very tasty.

I don't know if I'd call it irresponsible. These aren't beers to send to the local beer shop and I doubt More plans to do that in the future. They have been pretty clear on the drink fresh and store cold thing. I fully blamed my fruited cans situation on my own forgetfulness.

Guess my assumption was way off about freezing lol. Didn't realize this would happen on its own when not kept cold.

Yeah, whoops I guess its on the customers to be smart and not the breweries to do something fucking stupid.

Nah, the breweries shouldn't do something stupid.

Holy crap, yeah, I need to move my 3 or so cans of Strawberry Marbles I have left to the fridge and drink ASAP. Thanks for the reminder, dudes.

There's never winning with the beer market. I've never had the opportunity (or desire, truthfully) to make it to Villa Park for a Frooted release. But just from reading the Twitter/Insta announcements the brewery has made it very clear these beers should be consumed reasonably quickly from time of purchase. Shoot, when I bought crowler of a Corridor/More Peaches collab last year at Corridor the menu explicitly stated to drink fresh.

These people buying the beer aren't just stumbling upon it at Binny's. They know what to expect.

If Frooted goes draft only then they 100% will get nasty messages or complaining about why don't they package.

That chump whining in the screenshot will be there next release anyways. We all know it.

Don't package beer that could explode. The end.

I see Frooted as an excellent educational tool. Re-wire people's brain to remember beer is meant be consumed rather than stored.

Are we sure someone isn't just shooting at the cans? I saw something similar in a movie once.

Great opportunity for their marketing department.

It’s really just two different scenarios:

Beer that freezes (at whatever temperature it takes) - what’s really happening is that the alcohol is no longer preventing the water within the beer from freezing and separating out. This doesn’t really have anything to do with the fruit. Water is one of (or the?) only substances that expands, not contracts, when it freezes. If the ice within the can melts again, the contents contract and leave room for CO2 to escape suspension. Thus bulging cans, strange results when opened, and potential for weird taste.

Beer that is kept too warm (and which contains unfermented sugars from fruit or other sources) - the yeast which remains in suspension will reactivate and eat the sugar, producing alcohol and CO2 (gas). The beer will absorb the CO2 in the closed can until it can’t absorb anymore, putting pressure on the can. Too much pressure, and the can explodes.

Any beer could explode if you throw it hard enough against the wall. Hopefully the world doesn't stop packaging beer tomorrow.

I'd personally rather they package the beer and emphasize refrigerate/drink fresh.

Edit: and "explode" is a little strong in this case anyways.

Yeah, I knew it had nothing to do with the fruit, and everything to do with the water in the beer.

Having not paid enough attention to the Marbles or Footed beers, do they have Lactose added to them?...I know Broeo cans from Pulpit were having a problem of cans exploding because people were not refrigerating them. Once the beer got closer to room temp it reactivated fermentation and created extra pressure in the cans.....

Marbles series has the lactose added. Not sure about the Frooted though.

Yeah, the Marbles definitely does, that's the gist of milkshake IPA. I'm pretty sure the frooted series doesn't, they would most likely say it did, and those beers definitely taste like they don't.

I think the Frooted cans "explode*" because the fruit puree is a sugar that can still get fermented. Warmer it is kept the faster will do so.

*-again, term seems strong to me, it's not like there's any shrapnel involved. Mostly the can just bulges and occasionally you get a pin-sized hole where you actually have beer squirting out.
