Who is charging $20 for 4 packs of NEIPAs regularly...out of their brewery/taproom/brewpub?

Woah...Definitely not the norm...still very rare to see any brewery charging this for a 4-pack of an IPA. Any brewery that tries it is still met with "price inflation" outcries.

I don't buy the Nawis because they're $19 a 4 pack and I can get beer just as tasty or more tasty for less. I passed on quite a few $20+ 4 packs that were hyped recently.

I agree. This is a very risky position for this brewery to take in an already saturated market. I personally have never purchased Transient at a store due to the cost...just doesn't make sense with the other options. I have visited the taproom for draft pours and had some very good beers and a few that were average. However, the position they are taking on Brimley is a huge turn-off. Very risky...

Correct. The supply/demand is not there for $20/4-packs. Which is why breweries are not doing it for the most part.

14 to 16 is norm I see. Occassionally 18. I know HB is pretty strict in having stores sell for 14.99.

I remember thinking the opposite - thought he was getting way too much flack. I thought it was at the high end of the spectrum, and it seems a few people were trying to tell him what his own business costs were. That said, this is much different, and don't see how it can possibly be defended. If you check the UT ratings, a lot of people aren't even rating, which means it should be less than the 3.68 it's currently at.

Cost arguments - at the end of the day the customer didn't have to buy it. Quality arguments - means you sold the customer a false bill of goods and you should own up to it.

He is free to charge whatever he wants, but he isn't free to be dishonest about it.

I hope you all get refunds so I never have to read about Brimley again.

True. Seems that's being done with the Brimley.

Not sure how he lied about his pricing. Did he say is was one price and then have Beer Temple and the other accounts that held it at the time surreptitiously charge something different after people signed their credit card receipts?

Lol, no that would be fraud.

Yes, it would. It would also constitute being dishonest about pricing. I'm still not sure how he was being dishonest about pricing of Juice is Loose in December 2016. I'm very clear how he's being dishonest about the Brimley situation.

I think people assumed he was lying about how much it cost to make Juice is Loose and that 20 or 22 dollars or whatever was a fair price.

Yeah, I understand, but those people are by definition being presumptuous (at best). Nobody knows the costs to get Transient up and running and to brew beer - and, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter. You don't have to buy it.

I guess to me burying your head in the sand when you've sold consumers a defective product irks me far more than charging a high price for something. The former is deceitful. The latter is not.

Bingo. Or we can just believe in 2 years he was able to halve his production costs and sell the same thing for ~$10 to a distributor or resale location.

I was just stating the facts. I don't really care. If you're worried about how much a beer costs then maybe don't buy it.

He was just being a dick about the pricing. I went and looked up his first post on the subject, this is it...

"You seem to be a brilliant financial mind. Perhaps your services would do well outside of an Internet forum.

What do you do for a living? Whatever it is, you get paid too much for it just. Why? Because I say so and I have no actual reasoning to back that up. Does that sound ridiculous to you yet?

FYI- Hop "contracts" aren't a negotiation."

If he came in here and rationally explained what was going on, I'm sure it would be no problem. Heck if he did literally nothing and never commented on the pricing, fine. Just don't be a dick to people.

Ok, fair enough - I seem to be wrong. I wasn't thinking taproom in particular, just costs of 4-packs in general. Walked over to Binnys this afternoon and while I was there I was perusing the pricing on the IPA 4-packs. Piepworks are around $16 although the new pale ale is $18 ... St. Errant was $18, TG was around $18 for their IPAs, Noon Whistle was $16, Alarmist $15 ... so it does seem that the median seems to be around $16 for a 4-pack ... but yea, @ChiPez66 the Hop Nawi was the one that I was thinking of earlier - I saw it for $20 last time I came across it and skipped out.
