Pish posh on all you beer snobs...

Here is a beer tulip. Anything else is a snobbish commandeering of a wine or brandy glass...

I didn't think that was a tulip but it is a tulip pint.

This guy knows whats up, if you need a stem to avoid body temperature transfer you are either drinking bad beer or drinking it way too slow. The real reason we all want a fancy looking glass (and yes I have a couple at home that i drink when im fancy) is too make our beer taste fancier. It's a personalized version of artificial scarcity. Doesn't make it wrong just makes it what it is.

Well, no. A great beer will still be a great beer out of a styrofoam cup, we buy fancy glass because it makes us happy to look at it.

hey now, styrofoam cups cross a pretty serious line. Plastic I can tolerate, even those old school cafeteria hard plastic cups with the weird texture to them, but styrofoam has no place in the food industry. I once walked out of a mexican place after I had paid because they took my burrito to go, stuck it in a styrofoam container, and then stuck it in the microwave. Not cool. Same goes for alcohol or coffee, who knows what you're leaching out of that shit with alcohol

I purchased 4 from dollar General for .99 each. They work great.

The surface of a styrofoam cup has gazillions of nucleation points that allow carbonation to escape too quickly. Okay for Pissweiser and other fizzy macro swill, but please pour your "great beer" into a scrupulously clean #proper glass vessel. Not only will it look nice, it will also taste like it's supposed to.

No offense taken. That's part of the whole beauty and subjectivity of beer in general. But I will argue against your remake by stating the this glass features a hollow foot(Stem) from which to hold it from. The hollow foot is actually designed to reduce heat transfer from your hand by having your hand in contact with less beer. The Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass has a thinner bottom portion for this exact reason. So no this glass is not designed to "warm ship up"

Disparaging tulips is bad enough, but styrofoam cups? Stop it. You're not animals.

    I agree.

Styrofoam is great if you like 10% liquid and 90% foam out of your beer.....

How many of you guys love going to beer fests an sampling the beers? What kinda paper or plastic cup do you prefer?

I love great glass as much as anyone, and I usually stick with glass appropriate for said beer, but I’m not a fanatic.

But in the 5 minutes that’s beers in my cup I doubt it makes all that much practical difference what glass I use. But I still love my glasses or I wouldn’t bother with the expense.

The four beerfests I've been to provided a 4 or 5oz glass, often labeled specifically for the fest. Beerfest beers last me seconds so it probably doesn't matter what I'm drinking from. I get one and drink it immediately.
