Asheville gets quite a bit of it. I've been able to buy at least a case for the past two years, and I believe they upped the bottle run this year.

I really, really wish OHB would do a brewery release for this as well, I could see that being so much fun with their tasting room in there...

I will be in Charlotte area for Thanksgiving week/weekend. Where would one be able to purchase Event Horizon in the area? Is this a brewery/special release?

I would imagine all the bigger bottle shops will get some. I would also imagine that at first you'll have to be on a list, after the list is filled it may see the floor. Olde Hickory is a private seller they don't go thru a retailer like Tryon so they can sell it to whom they want. IMO this is the best brew done in NC on a yearly basis.

How do I get on a list (prolly too late for that now)? How is it packaged? Would love to get my hands on some! Thanks for the advice.

To get on a list you'll have to know the owner or manager. Places like City Beverage in WS and Sams in Durham don't work off a list it's 1st come 1st serve, and there will be a bottle limit, bombers only. I'm not really all that close to Charlotte, but I'd call one of the bigger retailers and see when they are expecting delivery, and ask them how they dole it out. Forget Total Wine, never happen.

You're better off trying to set up an IP trade while visiting.

I saw from another post your from PA/NJ, so am I, Bucks County. I assume you'll be on I95 so I'd try Sams Quick Mart in Durham first and see when they expect delivery. You'll have better luck offering up Troegs and or Yards for an IP trade.

Why forget Total Wine? I grabbed 3x Lindley Park there.

(NOT PICKING ON YOU AT ALL!)

Reading this exchange, I gotta admit I felt/understand the resentment of some when people buy extra bottles to trade or out-of-towners swoop in to grab a limited release.

Wasn't trying to 'swoop' in at all. Noticed I would be in the area when a beer was being released. Looked the beer up, it had great reviews. Wanted to try it. Wasn't going to be buying a case or a massive quantity. I'll try to keep my desire to try some local NC beer while I'm in NC to myself next time.

Why so defensive? I made clear I wasn't picking on you. I've done the same thing myself, for example grabbing the last Bourbon Angel's Share off a shelf in San Francisco. I didn't say it's wrong, but that I understood the emotions of some.

I was defensive because I didn't/don't understand the "advocacy" in your post. All of the posters above you seemed to generally be trying to help out. YOU on the other hand seemed to have an issue with someone coming in from out o town "to buy up all your beer".

I will buy what I want to buy, and happily encourage you to buy whatever you can get your hands on. An out-of-towner buying up some local beers, reviewing them, and spreading the word with their friends does just as much for the local breweries (if not more) as the guy who shops local and runs off the out-of-towners. Not saying Bluecane is guilty of that, but I think only good things can come from local breweries having their products purchased and taken back home to other states.

DaGrizz, if you are staying in Concord/Kannapolis give Lil Robert's Place a visit. You may be able to find everything you are looking for there first.
