Not sure if it was mentioned in this thread, but Jackie O's started sending some stouts to MA. A few weeks ago I picked up a BA Oil of Aphrodite w/coffee and this past weekend I grabbed a bottle of Dark Apparition. Nice to find beers on shelves locally that I had to trade for in the past!

Well, it was titled "Toppling Goliath coming to MA". They came...we're past that now.

As far as its own dedicated thread, maybe because it's not a local brewery?

Probably a good idea not to start an annual thread for breweries outside of New England, that could be get messy.

Agreed! Drank my Bourbon Coffee Oil of Aphrodite a week or two ago and thought it was outstanding

I love Jackie O's stout. I'm curious as to how they're going to hold up now that Brad Clark is gone.

Makes sense to me-hopefully folks will update the beer shop finds with their periodic drops of more limited releases.

How could that "be get messy?"

I'm sure people will, and it probably belongs here more than its own separate thread.

I also don't think there will be a lot of hoopla over their IPAs at this point. Now if their stouts started dropping...

Every brewery that starts distributing to MA is going to get its own annual thread?

That could generate a lot of non-New England annual threads...

    Pipeworks 2019 thread, Sierra Nevada 2019 thread...etc.

For individual releases dropping in the area, sure that's ok. Like the annual Celebration thread. But I assume the mods want to avoid having a brewery thread for any brewery that distributes to MA, and isn't in New England.

I think they're trying to clog up the forums with less threads, which is why the New England brewery release threads went to annual, as opposed to every two months.

Oh, unless you were just asking what I meant by "be get messy". In which case, that was a typo, I just meant, "get messy".

The TG thread was actually used. A Pipeworks thread or Sierra Nevada thread would just fall back and disappear out of site on page two then three and so on.

I can see them wanting to eliminate dead threads, but the TG thread was used by many. I assume the Hopslam thread will be locked next . . .

Correct, I’m speculating. Send them a message and ask why it was locked.

I can understand both your argument and my assumption though. I can see them thinking a dedicated Toppling Goliath thread doesn’t belong in the New England forums. But yes, it was used quite often.

But, a thread like this is also good for talking about specific drops from breweries outside of New England. Like Jackie-O’s.

The Hopslam thread will probably remain open about as long as the Celebration and BCBS threads do.

Particulars? No, but I remember something about him starting his own spot in California (yup, Googled. California).

Iiiiiiiinteresting. We can call Sante the best at that style, right? It's them or Side Project, right?

Stouts? They don't really brew a ton of dark beer (stouts/porters) styles. Although their Vanilla Joe is awesome. They are mostly known for their mixed ferm and farmhouse beers. No slouch in the hop forward styles either. That said, I've never had a beer from them that wasn't good to great.

No, I meant their farmhouse stuff, sorry it was unclear. I think Sante/SP as farmhouse ales.

Sorry, I misunderstood since it all started from Jackie O's stouts on shelves here. I think both SARA/SP do them well, but I prefer SARA. I find the acidity to be dialed back more so than SP and overall more delicate beers. SARA is closer to Hill beers than SP.
