New slogan should be “Alottments for us.”

I'd guess 80-100 got shut out.
Everyone in this pic plus probably 20+ more inside got shut out....

Wow, I was about 150-200 in line, so thanks to all ahead of me that didn't buy the max allotment. I myself only got two 6-packs to share the love.

As of a few minutes ago, you could still fill a howler at the Detroit taproom...

Drove an hour to Detroit, got in line at 11:25, waited 40 minutes in shit weather only to be shut out. Wasted a good 3 hours of my day. Passed on getting a pour and needless to say I won't be buying Founders anytime soon. In the end it is only beer, however it's very disappointing.

Yeah, that's poor planning. It's their prerogative, but IMO, they should adjust the allotments based on turnout.

Of note: I find it very telling that almost all the comments in this thread are about Detroit and not the original location.

Sold out in Gr around 1:30. I felt bad buying 2 cases, but at that price it’s hard not to!

It would be interesting to know the # of people in line at both GR and Detroit at open. There is bound to be more people in the Detroit area than GR (even accounting for any folks from Chicagoland that may go to GR), so it could be a combo of more people in Detroit plus they probably kept more at their original location in GR.

I don't blame you at all for buying 2 cases. I was going to get 2 and a half cases, keep 12 for myself and disburse the rest to friends. Even a 2 case limit would have potentially gotten the rest of the 100 people left in line in Detroit bottles. I'm just trying to wrap my head around the 5 cases allotment. To each their own, but I can't even wrap my head around buying an entire case for myself. I do understand the price point is very attractive to most, so it makes sense.

    People are greedy.

Wasn't Panther Cub or whatever like a 10 case limit? Lol. Founders is just stupid.

I’m keeping a 6 pack to myself and the rest is going to friends who couldn’t make it. I have a flexible scgedule and I live 2 miles from GR founders so it’s a no brained for me. GR had around 80 people in line at open. I walked in at 1:10, there was no line. It was gone about a half hour later. Everyone I saw was buying 1 case.

Yes, Panther cub was a 10 case limit. It was released on a Saturday and lasted until Sunday in GR. Apparently there was half as much Barrel aged imperial stout, so they cut the limit in half.

I wonder how long it'll be on tap at the Detroit location...anyone inquire about that? If it were to make it to the weekend, I might have to make a trip down to try it while I'm visiting family in the area.

I agree the 5 case limit was dumb, but it seemed like most people were only buying 1-2 cases so even with a lower limit people would have been shut out.

I only bought two 6-packs because I am trying to clear out my cellar before I move this summer. At $15 a 6-pack including tax and bottle deposit, this is probably the best value stout I've ever had.

Their limits are idiotic. Why allow someone to buy 120(or in the case of Panther Cub 240) beers when you know there will be 100's of people lining up to get it? It's just stupid.

I would have followed the guy with the 2 cases wearing the shorts until he passed out from hypothermia and then relieved him of his cases.

Is he?!?! Maybe he first would've been smart enough to take the cases, and then relieve himself on the guy.
