I only bought 2 6 packs around noon today in GR. I agree that 5 case limit is too much, but probably 80% of the people I saw while in line only bought 1 or 2 cases. A smaller limit would have helped, but I don't think THAT many more people would have been able to buy. It certainly wouldn't have lasted all day even with a 2 case limit.

Lucky for me a buddy of mine was able to grab 4 bottles from someone of Facebook and split this 4 pack with me.
Thanks kind stranger on Facebook who bought 5 cases only to turn around and sell them on Facebook in 4 packs for $10 at 1pp. You are the real MVP making sure more people get to try this beer.

Damn that's what I like to hear! All I see by me are hoarders who flip beer.

Drinking one now, and it’s Awesome. Of course I love the base beer and this just kicks it up a notch. Hopefully they do this beer gain.

Lol no shit. I was standing in line with a group of guys that were talking about doing that. Crazy. Glad they actually went thru with it. Grand gesture fellas :beers:

Yup that is exactly what this guy did. Unfortunately from what I’ve been told, dude posted to Facebook while enjoying a beer in the Detroit taproom. Founders employees were scouring Facebook and caught wind of his post, found him and perma banned this fella from the establishment.
This is all hearsay but sounds about as shady as 5/10 case limits on super sought after beer.

There is less than zero chance that that happened. FBC could not possibly care less about that.

Thank you for this hysterical (historical?) documentation.

    FT: BA FIS
ISO: Hand truck - IP only

    5 cases. WTF.

Was that the group of guys who stacked up all their allotments in the taproom after buying? Including the guy who rolled his into there with his dolly instead of taking it back to his car like a normal person would?

6 or 7 guys with 30-ish cases of beer all stacked up to show off to the late-arriving crowd. I would have hated to see that after being told it was sold out in the store.

Oh c'mon, those generous gentlemen would've gladly sold you a sixer for the very fair price of $60-$70... I mean, think of all the work they put in to wait 15 minutes in line and use their hand trucks to pull the beer 50 feet into the taproom

I am past the days of chasing beer, but all this makes me wonder: Why did Founders do it this way? How is it better for them? I would really like to know the thinking behind this.

Only real issue I see is the quantity was too low for the demand of this beer that everyone has been waiting for.

Not that many bought the limit (5 cases), most bought 1 or 2 cases. So maybe 50 people in each location missed out because of the high limit. With the quantity of beer released, even at a case limit, 100's of people would still have been shut out.

Do you think Founders should have set the limit at a six pack? No, I think they should have produced more beer

Can't wait until they make this again and release it for distro in $47 bombers. That will be a day of great reading on these forums.

Haha, this thread. It's only beer, people.

The guys picking up multiple cases were likely helping out friends that couldn't get there that morning. Like my friend that picked me up a reasonable two 6pks.

The beer is excellent and I hope Founders considers a large release of this on a nationwide level. Price it at $16.99/4pk and it won't sit around on shelves either. I drank it side by side with Bells BA Expedition and may actually prefer Founders BAIS.

Your math is not really working. 100 missed out with the high limit but 100's would be shut out with a lower limit?
Maybe a six pack limit would have been better, I don't know. Re: the questions I asked.

Now that they found it is popular, and in demand, they'll release it in bombers instead, for $10 a pop, like Willettized.

Really? So allowing people to buy up to 5 cases(120 bottles of beer) isn't going to keep other people from missing out on it? Is logic not your friend? Or math?

Put the limit at a case if the production level isn't that high. You more than quadruple the exposure of the beer this way... and get it into far more people's hands.

Maybe it’s intentional? This is now their second consecutive mothership release that “underestimated” the demand.

Founders cancelled KBS Week which I assume is because they’ve increased production reducing demand. People aren’t going to stand in line for KBS or even CBS any more.

So is this done intentionally to generate buzz and get people talking? People asking/getting $60-100 for PC and BAFIS give it “rare” status makes me think so.
