I think this is a little bit of 'interpretation' in "samples" here. What I'd consider a sample is a 2oz or less pour. There is no brewery around here that charges for that, then again, not all will offer a sample. There are, however, several breweries that do 'tasters' which are a 4 to 5oz pour, i.e. a pour/glass for a flight, but offered individually.

Do you have any breweries that charge for taster pours?

Under 2oz samples are free and some taprooms have the larger tasters that they charge for. Some beertenders get pretty generous on samples though.

Can we assume you’re familiar with Paul Stamets? If not, you clearly would enjoy his work

Indeed, Stamets is very important in the community, but I'm much more familiar with Gary Lincoff, RIP, who did so much for myco lovers on this side of the country (as well as author of the Audubon "bible").

I'm sure this is posted somewhere in the previous 111 pages, but...

ALL NEIPA's ARE BEGINNING TO TASTE THE SAME!

On this side of the pond samples are always free. The only beer sold MUST be MEASURED volumes of one third, one half or a full Imperial pint.
In my experience all pubs are more than happy to give tasters and there are often signs displayed to let customers know this.

Haha we have idi... err, consumers on this site arguing that tipping is better than no tipping, and that inconsistent brewing practices and results are better than consistent brewing practices and results. Won't surprise me at all to have some idi.., err, consumers chime in how it is better to not get the full measure of beer you ordered than to get the whole amount, and better to pay for all samples than to get them free.

Well, I don't want a boss-pour either. That can get messy.

One definition of "fine" is "thin", so yes.

This may offend a lot of people on BA, but what the heck, this is the Controversial Beer Opinion Thread.

I don't understand the people who are drinking Bombers of 12%-15% (or thereabouts) barrel aged stouts at 8 in the morning who post on WBAYDN. It just doesn't seem to be the right way to start a productive day (unless your working the night shift and ending your day).

They could be having a glass and stoppering the rest for later. That's how I usually drink high-ABV bombers.

i'm guessing many of those folks passed out drinking it down the night before and posted it in the morning. Other than that, there are a few good reasons to be starting that early - world cup soccer, early start tailgating for the game that afternoon - I've gotten going at 10am for a 1pm kickoff. Maybe to enhance skiing or boating (though my thoughts on drinking and boating are similar to drinking and driving - no booze until you're anchored, with the corollary to that being, as soon as you're anchored, you start drinking.)
