Another new Brut IPA. This was awesome! Great fluffy head retention/foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/zest, wood, mint, light peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate cracker, white bread dough malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, woody, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, fairly crisp finishing. Creamy/bready/grainy malts, and some sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very smooth, not overly aggressive, minimal warming 8%. Fantastic Hallertau Blanc/Mosaic profile. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; with a great balanced clean pils malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Very impressive, spot on style example. Loved the hop profile as expected. 4.1

Just got home after I spent most of the afternoon at WhistlePig distillery in Shoreham, VT. I was picking 3 barrels (out of nine!); 2 store picks and one for the WhistlePig Pavillion up at Spruce Peak here in Stowe.

I could not open anything but a BA Stout after my day!



750 ml. bottle.
Moderate pour yields a one inch tan head over a near black body with nice lacing. Nose of milk chocolate, bitter chocolate, roasted malt, slight dark fruit, and bourbon. Taste follows nose somewhat with mostly bitter chocolate, unsweetened chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, a bit of dark fruit, and bourbon. As it warms the flavors assert themselves and this stout becomes a bit more enjoyable. Feel could be better, but still good. Overall, I enjoyed this and will have again while watching the TV series. Closer...work get up at 0355. Did fairly well controlling my OCD this year, only bought 4 6 packs and 4 singles, at a local bike shop (Greenway)....see y'all tomorrow!

 

Good beer tastes a lot like Sam 76 but not as hoppy of flavor. Good beer. Brewed in Birmingham AL.
