Probably not much insight, but they were running around a 2 week backlog before the 5 week shutdown. Assuming submissions remained level (but who knows?) they're now at 7 weeks. Best case scenario maybe they work double-time? And in 5 weeks they're back to normal.

    Chick brewer? Really?
She's a brewer. Just like a female accountant is an accountant.

Into the same space as Brass Foundry once had planned to set up shop. I'll admit I was among those who were dubious of this move actually happening (figuring Boom Island might decide to close up shop instead), but I'm more optimistic now that it will come to fruition. Note that the only two breweries that will be in Minnetonka, Unmapped and Boom Island, happen to be two of the most Belgian-oriented breweries in the Twin Cities area.

    Or, if you're old-fashioned, a "brewster."

Relax SJW, that's why I put the smiley face after it. Besides have you ever seen most "craft beer" stuff on instagram its 1000 times worse with sexualizing women.

Technically speaking, there isn't even one Boom Island, because the island was connected to the west bank of the Mississippi over a century ago. In reality, geography means nothing in the Minneapolis brewing scene. Harriet Brewing wasn't anywhere near Lake Harriet, and Fulton Brewing isn't in the Fulton neighborhood.

If you really think your take is ok, put your real name and face on here next to it. Let’s see if you have the courage to do that. The fact that you would think it is no big deal to say it that way, especially in today’s world, is remarkable.

Harriet was named such because the owner and his wife lived near Lake Harriet, Fulton was named such because the owners lived and brewed together in the Fulton neighborhood.

I know. It's just always seemed ridiculous to me to name a brewery for a geographical area in which the actual brewery isn't located. Without insider information these brewery names make no sense.

As for Boom Island Brewing, it might be beneficial for them to rebrand with their move as they never seemed to be strong.

Alright, let's not crucify the guy for some off-color diction. Out of both respect for some women who might be offended (I don't really care about offending the chivalrous dudes who feel compelled to jump in on women's behalf) and an abundance of social caution, I'm not going to throw "chick" around in that context. I'm more disturbed, however, by the rather Orwellian notion that people should be literally frightened out of openly expressing themselves as they desire, especially at that fairly innocuous level (compared to other, much more intentionally offensive, terms). While I'm not sure if @BeerDrinkinGuy intended to note a "chick brewer" in this context, keep in mind that, due to their relative rarity, female brewers tend to draw a lot of positive attention in the media. Finding the presence of a female brewer worthy of highlighting is common among supporters of women in brewing. I myself did that earlier in this thread with regard to Lori Ertl's Under Pressure Brewing.

Notably, both of those breweries opened before the Surly Bill passed, so they weren't anticipating many brewery visitors who would call them out on their geographic imprecision. Boom Island, which never was on Boom Island, also lacked a taproom for its first couple of years, if I recall correctly.

I'm not sure referencing the 1950s as defense of your sexist language is a winning strategy but hey it works for the President so what do I know.

Also, Goose Island is neither on an island nor do they use goose in their beer. Discuss.

It’s at least located in the general vicinity of Goose Island.

Boom Island should definitely change their name and rebrand if they move to Minnetonka. I haven't purchased Boom Island beers in many years. Those not closely following this move will assume it's a new brewery and be more likely to check them out if they are "new".

Their website/webpage no longer mentions the brewer and his history. Seems like he may be gone: https://yoergbeer.com/the_yoerg_saloon

At least Goose Island is a real island that is in close proximity to the brewery.

Damn it. I just broke my own rule about talking about out of state breweries.
