Had it last year in a 16oz can. They did seem to alter it to be closer to an NEIPA. Still enjoyed it though.

I had a pint of Hopslam tonight at a local bar. Amazing beer. I have not seen it in package form in my area yet. I will be checking every day now. Yes it’s that good.

Found this far too sweet. I had it on tap in Arizona a year ago and wasn't impressed. Then had it in cans recently, dated about 2 weeks old, and I could barely finish a single can.

I love Two Hearted, and Focal Banger, and Pliny the Elder. I also love Julius and Fort Point. I love good, hoppy beer. To me, this isn't a good, hoppy beer.

Had a can yesterday, and it has an overly sweet, syrupy quality I personally don't care for in IPA's; much like I remember the last few years.
I did think there was more demand locally, but I saw several stacks of cases at a local shops and whole foods still sitting around for over a week or so.

I have seen the same at one of my local Retail Beer Distributors and my local Wegman's. Just sitting there collecting dust. Needless to say but the price point of over 22 bucks a six-pack is likely part of the reason. I did speak to the manager of the Retail Beer Distributor and he stated that Hopslam is "not moving" for him. He went onto say that in the recent past folks would start calling him to ask about Hopslam starting in December but this year he got zero calls.

    Cheers!

When I had this fresh about 5 days old I thought it was really great, and then I had one on Sunday night and thought it was a bit maltier and not as fresh and hoppy tasting. Still not bad though and I finished a can myself after sharing several other beers.

This has been my experience and my biggest pet peeve with hopslam, it seems like it has one of the shorter life spans of any quality IPA and when it goes, in my opinion, it really goes off a cliff. I didn't get any last year until late in february and I had a hard time finishing my six pack

While clearly taste buds vary, this is a very strange take to me.

I wrote elsewhere once upon a time that a bottle of Hopslam got lost under my wife's seat back when the beer was bottled (how you don't notice you only have 5/6 of a six pack when you carry it in the house I will never understand). Anyways, I found the beer months later clearing the junk out of her car, stuck it in the fridge, & we drank it. Didn't seem any worse for the month it spent alternately freezing & baking in the sun, which seemed...unlikely.

A lot of things can affect one's palate. I've never experienced a beer that falls off a cliff inside of a week; that seems extreme.

Just for the record, my experience of falling of the cliff was at something like 2 months after bottling

If you think $7.50 for a pint of a 10% IPA is expensive, don’t ever come to Boston.

Especially for an actual PINT of it. :astonished:

I found them very present the first time I tried Hopslam (six years ago?), and in this year's too; other times, not so much. It's why I'm enjoying this year's greatly, I think.

We don't even get a beer that strong in a shaker pint with a short pour.

We get it in an 8 oz. snifter with a short pour...for $8-10...

I get it - but $7.50 for a pint is pretty expensive here, for what it is. Come to Detroit! So many bars get all kinds of great beer and have $5 pour nights all the time. It's a great place to be!

Sitting on shelves here at every grocery store I've been to, some of which I don't recall getting HS in the past. It's priced at $21.99 here, more than just about every other IPA/DIPA on store shelves or local breweries. Can't say I'll be sad to see Bell's leaving VA, maybe they will get these turds off my store shelves before they go for good.

I had a draft glass of Hopslam yesterday. There was a general sweetness to the beer (from the generous malt bill?) but nothing specifically 'said' honey to me. Needless to say but your palate is your palate and my palate is mine.

    Cheers!

P.S. In all probability you had a different batch than what I drank.

Last week, I got a single can for $3.99, dated 1/10/19. I probably should drink it this weekend before it ages much more to get the full effect.
