What beer are you drinking now? #2298

I bought their first and second LPs because of the cool Roger Dean cover art. The fact that the tunes (especially the first side of their first album) are fantastic doesn't hurt.

It was seeing your post the other day to test @TheIPAHunter if this was a band that he ever heard of that made me dig up the old vinyl. I do like the albums well enough to have tracked down and purchased the CD versions, as well.

 

An apparently old collaboration beer that I just saw on the shelves of Coaltrain in Colorado Springs and just had to try.

Common Interests, a sour collaboration from The Commons Brewery in Portland, OR (now closed, I guess, but also supplying Oregan wheat) and Epic Brewing out of Denver, CO (providing Colorado honeydew).

Pale, mildly hazy straw yellow body; thick white head that quickly dissipates to nothing after a few seconds; a little bit of yeast sediment. Earthy aroma; some funk with elements of fruit and wood. Very sour taste; lime and sour cherries. Medium body; very tart and juicy.

An interesting beer, apparently a collaboration between (now closed) The Commons Brewery in Oregon and Epic Brewing in Denver. The beer was brewed by Epic per the bottle label data (RELEASE#1 7.4%ALC./VOL. DEN#4240). I can't find any additional information on Epic's or The Commons' web pages, so I can only assume this beer is at least 1 1/2 years old since the BA listing dates from October 2017.

The beer itself makes for a fine, powerful sour beer but I don't pickup any notes of Colorado honeydew and the Oregon wheat is maybe detectable only in its earthy, grainy scent. Would like to have had it in a fresher state, but as I alluded to earlier, it still makes for a mouth puckering and wonderfully sour beer treat.
