Where are you seeing cans? I've never seen a New Anthem can. I have plans to make over to Wilmington soon-ish and hopefully pick up some.

Multiple shops in the triangle area pick them up and bring them back. They’re also going to start distributing as they’ve hired a sales rep for the triangle area. I know it’s not statewide, but it beats a 5 hour round trip for IPAs

They are pretty easy to get here in the Triangle, a couple shops get New Anthem/Wilmington Brewing fairly consistently. They even make it out to the Piedmont as well.

If price is a factor then I would say Burial Hawkbill is the king of NC.

They've dialed it in for the last year or so, pretty consistently great and at $12.99 for a 6pk you can't find a better value.

Fair, however I meant brewery in general, not just a particular beer

I'm also a big New Anthem fan, rarely is one of theirs not awesome. Steez is my favorite and that seems to be the one that goes the slowest when it we get a drop, so I usually stock up.

Nothing compares to the draft stuff we've been getting from Grimm though. I know not an NC brewery, but that's the best that can be found in this area IMO.

Nice, I'll pick at least a can up. Missed out yesterday, but got some of the Modern Times stuff dropping around town.

I had these incendiary devices tonight. It wasn’t memorable but it certainly wasn’t terrible by any means. I think I’m torn between their first, cats out of the bag, and their one before last, inspirational quote. Those two have been my fave so far from them. Haven’t cared for second hand or office party. Just had fresh burial tearing flesh tonight on draft. That was so much more phenom than the most recent cans. However I will always stand by surf wax and hawksbill for go-tos/best in nc!

Actually, they are delivering to the Triangle area. To some shops anyway. I hope when the summer rolls around and the beach crowds pick up that doesn't change. It is nice to see NA around here rather frequently of late. Solid stuff indeed.

Thanks @KRubes , was able to find some of that what @LoonarEclipse calls the 'grossest beer ever' from Burial and Ancillary. [IMG]

To @LoonarEclipse 's credit, These Incendiary Devices is similar to many of Ancillary's beers, not quite honed in, with a whole lot going on, bit muddled on the finish.

This one has Light strawberry notes, and a blueberry tartness on the finish, but seems to be a whole lot going on. However, not the worst beer ever, and not even close to the worst IPA that Burial or Ancillary have put out. Just completely regular and nothing to write home about.

Hopefully this closes the discussion and gets us back to what the "Best Drinking IPA/DIPAs in NC" are, cheers!

^^^ Yup. Sometimes less is a whole lot more. Kinda like this approach.

Neither an IPA or a DIPA, but High Fives & Good Vibes RC/Casita collab was/is fantastic. Took the best of both breweries for a sneaky 9.2% TIPA drinking like a 6%.

Its a great representation of the expectations sought for Casita in their infancy. Hoping for the NEIPA consistency from them that we've grown accustomed to with Burial.

Maybe I had a bad can then. I thought High Fives was middling at best. Harsh, malty, and too sweet. Typical of TIPAs without any of the goodness of a NEIPA. Thats kind of my issue with Casita, some beers are out of this world, and some are just ok at best.

But at least it takes good pictures.

That’s a can issue for sure, mine looked like a veil ipa and tasted like weed, cat piss and oranges and it was tremendous. (Read: it didn’t taste like a veil ipa)

Oh yeah. Another solid release from NA. Be on the lookout for it in the Triangle.

Mine was pretty murky and not harsh at all. While not may favorite, I thought it worked. The nose lacked a bit, but it was dangerously smooth at +9%.

Finally has a chance to review some, pretty good stuff, little green dankness on it, but tasty all the same, great for the rainy weather we have been getting.
