My first Old Fezziwig of the season while watching the game. Go Duke!

Just opened a JP Luciernaga. Huge foam out upon opening. Disappointing. Thin body, once poured no carbonation in the beer. Funky smell and taste, light sour but nothing really great here. It was cold and warmed up in the fridge when we lost power for 5 days. Been cold again for a week. Will all my beers in this cold/warm/cold situation have issues with foaming/off taste?

    Enjoy

Had my first Celebration of the year and maybe better than I remember, maybe more cinnamon or nutmeg than I remember (LOL) and for desert fresh Ten Fidy, wow what a special stout.

I thought of doing this earlier today at work when someone asked me to recommend a great coffee-centered stout. I at first said FBS, then remembered hom much I liked the couple Java Stouts I'd had in the last few days. It made me curious as to how they stack up right next to each other. So...

I like them both a lot, but FBS wins this one. Granted it was last years Java and this years FBS, so I guess the coffee flavors probably mellowed a bit. Can't wait until I see some of this years Bells Java to side-by-side them again.

Edit: almost changing my mind as they warm up, the Bells has this awesome dark chocolate taste that keeps getting better as it warms, while it feels like FBS has a rich coffee taste that kind of flattens out as you drink it.

At the end of the glass, it's a draw.

I wasn't expecting much, but this was actually quite nice.

Smoked beers are like my guilty pleasure because I don't have them as often as I should. This is awesome.

    Probably Celebration next

Making room in the fridge. Not half bad...the hops have faded enough where this one is actually enjoyable.

Same exact combo for me. It is just me, or is it still cool every time you pour a stout that dark out of a metal can. Reminded myself to listen to black metal.

Then I'm going to read Ender's Game.

I hope I still have a girlfriend tomorrow.

And now I have moved on to Central Waters BBBW. I am enjoying it much more. It has a bigger bourbon presence and a nice nuttiness throughout. Again, big thanks to millerbuffoon!

Found some Founder's Harvest Ale on the shelf still and felt it was my solemn duty to drink it tonight rather than let it go to waste.

Having my first Anchor Liberty Ale as I clear stuff out of the fridge that's a couple months old to make way for Christmas Ales and stouts for the winter.
