Other Half (2019)

Just left - looked like about 15 cases left on the pallet in the warehouse.

ETA: my heart goes out to the guy on Court St with 6 cases of beer getting a dressing down by his lady for being somewhere he wasn’t supposed to be.

 

5th Anniversary is good, albeit very reminiscent to the Creature Comforts collab (my memory tells me so, at least). I'm optimistic because last year I spent the first few days bitching about how I thought 4th was too heavy on the Enigma, but it rounded out quite nicely with time.

Physical challenge: will contribute $100 to the medical expenses of anyone who can independently complete the cycle today (3rd, 4th, 5th, both stouts, Miss the Old Other Half).

 

Although I don’t have the beer itself to make a comparison, I will say that from a label perspective 4th crushes 5th

5th tastes great. Would be interesting to see how it opens up in a couple weeks, but I have two 4 packs, two kids, and zero self control - so these will all be gone in short order

 

Hey guys I need your help. My buddy went to the release this morning. He got in at 10am got his beers, drank a couple on tap and left to get his car. He never came back and is missing. Man up next time. Buy an alarm. Tell your wife your going on some all night century ride or some cycling bs. Join the VIP tent. Grill some god damn hibachi. Shotgun some 10%ers. Explore your creative side and do some can arts and crafts with DDH Picasso. Spend at least one of your two kids college savings on 6 cases of beer and 6 stouts. Go home lit. Give your wife the can art and say it’s your trophy. That your prize was a 144 beers and 6 bottles and your dehydrated. Kiss and hug your kids and tell them your sorry for the 10 years of student debt they’ll have to deal with because you have no self control.

I have less of an issue with ppl who put chairs out during inclement weather. This has been done at many breweries for many years. Also like other ppl said, if the person isn't there for an extended period just walk in front or move the chair behind you.

That said, I thought the line cutting was crazy today. If it wasn't for the guy next to me calling out a group of mules out for creeping up past us, I'd have gotten a smaller allocation, as they cut the allocation while I was at the pos.

But the line cutting makes everyone on edge and overly aggressive...just not necessary. They really should have used numbered bands to keep everyone calm.

It hasn’t been done at any breweries in New York, and it’s a very location dependent thing (this is a strangely acceptable practice in Philadelphia but nowhere else that I know of on the east coast).

Fuck the chair thing.

 

I agree about “fuck the chair”. And in theory (or in practice if my 260lb best mate from Scotland who runs a security firm is with me) I’m all about kicking over chairs going “wut wut ************s”, but in practice (at least from my self-preservation focused standpoint) it’s probably easier said than done.

Other Half sets the stage for this shitshow, the least they can do is make the whole scene somewhat amiable. These scenes are few and far between, but one day the scene they create is going to bite them in the ass and they will deserve it. And creating an environment that has your customers having to wait hours in freezing temps to get the beer is not cool.
