I drank my single can this weekend. I liked it more than I have in past years. It was good, perhaps a little boozy and grainy. It's not something I'd want 6 of or go crazy trying to find.

Funny you mention that. I was just looking at Fat Head’s guest taps because theirs didn’t have much that interested me and saw this

Apparently can’t get a pint for that price here anymore either. The fact that it’s $0.75 more than a Hop Ju Ju extinguished any chance that I will have it this year. I haven’t had one in 2 years now. It’s just too pricey for me to justify anymore in comparison to everything else (year round or seasonal). Can get 2 four packs of Great Lakes Chillwave for almost the same price. All perspective based on what we are used to spending I suppose, but I think that’s the main reason the distributors have to come back and pick it up a lot of places now.

still less than a dollar more than the same size serving of DHF American Beauty. I know which one I would drink 9 out of 10 times.

Can't wait for Ju Ju, just an FYI Great Lakes isn't doing too hot around these parts doubt we will see this years Chillwave as last years is still collecting dust and places are not ordering their seasonals at this time.

It doesn’t look like it’s selling as well here these days either

I'm only 30 and remember a time when I used to get excited about Hopslam. I'm not saying it's a bad beer by any means. But where we are with craft, and the hyper localization of it I haven't been excited about a Hopslam/Nugget Nectar release in a few years.

It was weird seeing it at Harris Teeter though.

Wow, it’s just hard to believe that Bells is a new distro for Youse guys. It’s in gas stations here. Huge market and way late to the dance.

Sounds like you incidentally spent more just in gas to save a couple bucks. Pyrrhic victory?

He was just making a joke about people griping about the price of Hopslam.

Wait what? Can't say I ever thought an accessible product was a bad thing.

"walked into the grocery store... right there on the shelf... the f*ck."

    nice, dude.

Perhaps, but you'd probably laugh if I told you the amount of people who will literally travel across town and back JUST to save $1 on something not realizing that they are spending that $1 if not more in traveling around to try and find a cheaper price.

Late to the game. This is my first ever Hopslam and I enjoyed it. Maybe because it's my first on so I have no other impressions of it.

First off, I'm on record with the hopslam love and just finished my second 6-pack last night.
That said, just had a 2019 SN bigfoot and it is a sufficient stand in for any of you who really want/wanted a hopslam and missed it.
Kinda tells you a bit about both beers I suppose

I just gotta ask: you are saying that a Barleywine is an equivalent for a Hopslam?

    Cheers!

It’s not the first time someone has posted that the lines are sometimes blurred between fresh, hoppy barleywines and sweet, boozy DIPAs/TIPAs.

I have not had the 2019 version of Bigfoot but I have had a lot of Bigfoot beers over the past 20-ish years but none of those have tasted like an equivalent of Hopslam to me. Have they for you?

    Cheers!

I am saying that this particular barleywine tastes very similar to hopslam too me. The hops much more forward and the sweetness is cleaner/brighter in hopslam for me.
But in general having had Bigfoot tonight and 7 or 8 hopslam over the past few weeks I would call them surprisingly similar beers

To me...no. Just making the point that there are those that feel the bridge between the two styles isn't always too far.

I would say it is something unique to bigfoot in my experience too. I've not had any other barleywines that are that aggressively hopped. It's not a connection I usually make and it speaks to how out of the ordinary bigfoot is if you ask me.
