The non-unique beers should probably be merged with the main Stone entries.

Definitely some were added that way and some were not - it was not standardized. We are trying to clean them up when we come across them but feel free to open reports to clean them up if you come across them.

It is likely due to the fact that those tools (for adding a beer / adding a Place) have not been updated in a long time and the Notes/Commercial Description section was not heavily used at that time.

Agreed - I think that upgrading these tools is on the to do list for @Mike and @Todd but not sure where it sits in the priority order.

That describes Summit Brewing Company. Their whole page on here could use some good cleaning up.

Just took care of it. Feel free to submit edits for whole lists if you see more, on the main brewery place page. Just ask to delete the brewery name from the beer lists.

I guess that I have some usefulness after all, even if it is just to inspire others. ;=)

To add to this, users on a computer can leverage use of "ctrl + f" (Windows computer) or "command + f" (Apple computer) to seek out specific words. Personally, I use this function while on a brewery's page with "all" beers listed to seek out specific keywords. If none of the keywords net a response, than I know I can add the beer (assuming the previous user got at least one keyword correct in their listing of the beer).

Likewise, I've found this command to be useful to seek out specific styles. If I'm visiting a new brewery, I will do a 'ctrl + f' search for specific styles that I enjoy and keep those beers in mind for when I'm browsing the menu. (i.e. searching "barleywine" nets xx responses, so I know this brewery produces barleywines to some extent, or that they don't make one at all).

It's a powerful tool, especially when combined with the site search bar. Unfortunately, it's limited to computer use and is not available on mobile (to my knowledge).

Wasn't there a recent "call to arms" about adding new beers? That with so many breweries opening, it is impossible for the site editors and folks in charge to keep up, so giddy up?

I had not added many beers until recently, but have been doing so for some of the smaller area breweries that are likely overlooked. Think about it now, I do the search thing and I read the list that populates when adding a new beer so I avoid Ye Olde Dreaded Duplication. I immediately request the update to add brewer's notes when available. What I found was a lot of partial names, so I can see how duplicates can happen inadvertently that way. But really, how hard is it to copy and enter the COMPLETE name???

I confess have not actually consumed each beer, in fact most of them I haven't. But if and when I do, I will gladly add my review as I do for every new to my taste buds beer, whether I'm first or last makes no difference to me. Now... Resizing/posting pictures - no clue how to do that. I think I have succeeded maybe once...it has taken me forever to reliable post pictures elsewhere.

There are two things that are difficult. One is style - a brewer puts what they think as the style on a beer, and it doesn't match up any of the existing categories. That's cured by a bit of research - one can figure out the close fit well enough.

The second issue I've run in to is availability - I've found that most of the new breweries aren't listing availability, so I have resorted to "rotating" as a pseudo-default. I understand why it is required, but I am also wondering if it is pointless to add a beer that in all likelihood will only be made once and only available on tap for a short time,ie until it runs out. But how can we know that if the brewer doesn't state that anywhere? Obviously, the more established breweries have "year round", "seasonal", "draft only" beer menus posted so that's easier.

Conspiracy theory opinion/thought - the "name of the week" beers. It's the same beer as it was a couple weeks ago, but we gave it a new name. Or maybe made a minor recipe tweak and called it new. Kinda convinced that happens with certain beers and a certain style in particular. I find it hard to believe there are so many "brand new" beers being made by the same place every week or so - basically every batch is a "new beer"? OK...I'll go back to my padded room now...

This all makes uploading updated pictures quite the task, would it possible to simplify this process at all? I mean, right now you don't even know when it's safe to upload a new picture. If you do it too quickly, it might revert and if you wait to long a different one might get uploaded. Then you have to delete all your cookies to even be able to see the new picture and even that might not work right away. There really is a lot of guesswork involved...

I think if you upload it right away, it will eventually revert to the new pic, even if the old one pops back up

In the system, the old picture has been removed and replaced - you are seeing a cached version of the picture either in your browser or in the edge of network cache node that you get assigned to (it is a distributed cache and takes a bit of time for all nodes to get updated with the new image).

I recently reported an old picture to be replaced by a new one and it didn't get taken down, any particular reason for this? Are there some guidelines that I'm not aware of, maybe? This is exactly why I gave up on reporting old pictures in the past, but after having been reassured that uploading current pictures is something that BA wants, maybe I just need to understand the process better.

For reference, this is the beer/picture in question and the new one:

Not sure. Maybe because the one on the page currently is just fine, being clearer with no flash flare.

If by "fine" you mean 17 years old and completely outdated then I agree. This is exactly what I meant previously when I mentioned an "unwillingness to replace outdated pictures".

We arent unwilling. The one you show and the one that is already on the page are the same label, and the one that is on the site currently is clearer

I don't know if this is yet another issue with cached content, but I deleted my cookies, logged in and out of BA and restarted my browser and this is what I'm seeing:

To me that is not the same label as this one:
