    PB&J, man. Bring it.
Don't feel too bad about being far from Tennyson area. Some good stuff around there, but overall just a headache. Because...people. Y'know?

    People, they're the worst.

I think Tennyson has lost most of its flavor with the giant apartment buildings going up every other block (I prefer my fancy shopping boutiques to mix with auto shops) but I do love Call to Arms, De Steeg, and Hops and Pie so it's a tradeoff.

Not exactly new anymore but had anyone hit Grand Aventura in Kremmling? Heading to the Boat on the 24th and thinking of stopping on way up. Good, decent, or bad?

Anyone heard anything about what’s taking over at fermentra? We’re said to see it go since it was a block away but anxious to see what will replace it. For me the beers were alway middle of the road but stopped in every now and then.

    From Westword
When Caution Brewing in Lakewood closed eight months ago, they said a new brewery will be opening at the same spot. Haven't seen or heard anything, but Google Maps has it listed as Old 121 Brewhouse

The people opening new breweries right now must be either hyper-confident, have a fat bank roll, or are in possession of alien technology. At least the ones opening where other places are entrenched. There are still some sparse places in the southern and western areas that could support one. Probably northeast, too.

I wish them all the best, but it seems like a huge risk without some kind of major differentiating factor. Kinda like how the Grateful Gnome is also a deli.

You better lock in your locals as people don't drive across town anymore. They might show up for your opening, but the amount of people driving across town to a tasting room have fallen off dramatically.

Was in Steamburg last weekend and asked my buddy, knows beer, about Yampa Valley Brewing in Hayden... said they've been wildly inconsistent due to multiple brewers coming and going - back on the right track evidently... He did mention how much he enjoyed 'The new brewery in Kremmling' though FWIW. He made it sound like a worthwhile stop if you're passing through... let us know what you think?

Hit Hayden back in October. The red was pretty good, stout decent, ipa so so. Guess I'll see if the Mrs is willing to stop in Kremmling quick on way up.

Interesting about FlyteCo. (weird name BTW). When we were taking a Lyft to Shelton fest this year, my Lyft driver said he was good friends with the head brewer at a new brewery close to being open that was going to be aviation themed.

Anyway, from what I remember of the conversation, it sounded like they planned to open with "IPA, red ale, wheat beer" and I didn't really hear anything that made me think they would stand out. There are a lot of breweries already, how are you different? But I'll still be interested to see the angle they take.

While a slight deviation (although BA seems to have embraced it a bit) - anyone a big cider fan? Haykin Family Cider is putting out some of the best ciders I've had anywhere. They've only been open less than a year and they're under the radar, but I'd give them the highest recommendation possible. It's worth a stop into their tasting room (off Peoria/I70) or just grabbing bottles/pours wherever you see them.

The Haykin folks are some of the best in the country.

Totally agree...maybe they are aiming for a retro, late-90s shtick with those three styles. But if that is the case, FlyteCo will have to compete with Oasis (Redux) down the road about a mile on Lowell.

Also re the name, I think FlyteCo originally had a different name but changed it up (I recall seeing something about that in a Westword piece).

Yeah, they used to go by "Aerocraft Breweing" apparently. And it looks like the merch. on their online store still has that branding. Their aerocraftbrewing.com website looks to be active still alongside their new flyteco.beer site.

It's hard to tell from the Westword article, but it seems like FlyteCo is mainly focusing on their image. Specifically noting that their head brewer "home-brewed in College" doesn't sound all that impressive to me. I don't care if he has been practicing. There have been a lot of great homebrewers that have turned into horrible commercial brewers. Probably more bad than good.
The taproom sounds really cool, but I dunno if that's going to get me into a place more than once. It sounds like they'd be better located out by DIA or something. Hopefully that's just the article, though. There are some image-focused places putting out good beer after all.
