If it were produced year round, I think Bell's would need to lower the price significantly for it to sell. Being available year round it would lose it's cachet and would then be competing with all the other brands that are available year round. Although I enjoyed it, I don't see it being a staple beer in my fridge if it were available all year.

And as a seasonal release it is also "competing with all of the other brands that are available year round."

As consumers we all get to make choices here. I choose to not pay $22+ for a 6-pack of Hopslam. I did buy one draft glass of Hopslam ($7 for a 12 ounce pour) and that was (will be) it for me. My money for canned/bottled beer went to other beers that represent much better value than Hopslam (which is overpriced from my personal perspective).

    Cheers!

Good point, I bought one 6 pack for $20 to see what the fuss was all about. That was enough for me. I didn't feel any urge to buy more. I'm just as happy with a glass of Founders Centennial IPA.

And that 6-pack won't cost you 20 bucks.

    Cheers!

    $16.99 for a 15 pack, and $14.99 when it's on sale!

It was good 16.99 at Total Wine in Texas. Glad I got 2 six packs. It's different from NE and WC styles so it has special written all over it and honey helps. Got some on draft from my local watering hole but it'll be gone when I get back. Taste was consistent too.

It's amazing how damn near every single/double IPA nowadays is thrown in 4-pack pint cans and sold for $16-24 per pack, yet people still bitch about a 10% triple IPA brewed with honey being $17 for a sixer. I can't even count the number of times I've had $15-20+ bombers of beer that were little better than mediocre homebrews because every new brewery seems to think all they have to do to make a beer good is limit the release and dip it in wax. Argue about its quality all you want, but Hopslam is and always has been a pretty damn good deal when it comes to price per ounce.

It's still on the shelves here in WV. One store just got a second allocation.

I can't answer the "why" part but I can say that it is more accessible around here (Long Island, NY) the past coupla years than it used to be, and I'm okay with a limited run and then it's done kinda deal...
