    I did it.

ACE - delicious. Angels sung to me. Haven’t had that sort of out of body experience since I tried peyote on a sketchy bachelor party. Best beer in the universe.

DC - projectiled out of both ends within 30 seconds of consuming. Almost certainly caused a flare up of my lactose intolerance (I have the particularly vicious self-diagnosed park slope variant; my organic home-ground almond milk usually keeps it at bay)

All this 'tose talk makes me glad that I spent my Presidents Day heading up to Tree House and bringing back a cooler full of beer. Looks like I'm on a milk sugar sabbatical for the next month. Did you guys know Tree House sells eggs? $4 for 6 eggs. They sold out before Jjjulius did.

This midweek drop is really tempting though. It's basically everything that we're asking for. It's like they read the thread...

As long as the mid-week drops are this good, they can ‘tose the hell out of the weekend releases. DDH Brocco and DMD? Hot damn

Wow holy Shit. I wouldn’t do that in the sanctity of my own house let alone in public. It’s not OH’s responsibility but that’s some straight up CPS shit there.

the 'tose thing boggles me a bit. some beers taste great with it. some don't. i've had galaxy 'tosed that i thought undercut the delcious galaxy bite and sweetened it too much, then I've went ahead and loved space daydream. originally I thought ddh double mosaic daydream was better than the OG DMD, then changed my mind.

Maybe breweries can give an ABV and an LBV (lactose by volume) percentage so we can all be fully informed. (i kid, i kid)

Yeah I mean it would be a stretch to describe vapor rings as sweet - and that was tosed - maybe that's why it received so many accolades from the Hop Showers Elite Palate Set

And you kid but I would love to know what constitutes a "touch" of lactose (or milk sugar or whatnot) and how much it varies between beers/batches

Not withstanding that you do have a basic hazepecker "pallet", I do think it's a personal palate difference. I'm with @Kanger that IPAs with lactose have a specific unappealing taste to them (for me, chemically artificial sweetener) that I can't get past. I'm not one to crush ACE (APB for hazegramps), but lactose makes me drink a lot slower and I'm less likely to finish the beer.

Is it because I know its there and my brain recognizes it? Is it because I genuinely hate lactose (BTW inadvertently typed lactoated just there) and would be able to recognize it? Guess we'll find out if the overlords let us do that blind tasting.

I'd recommend tomorrow for the tap takeover. I'm excited for D96 and Hudson Valley!

One of the best midweek releases ever IMO.

My top 3 non-Tose beers: Mylar, DMD, and Broccoli.

...All have been available this week, which is awesome. But, I bought all the 10%s at the Fifth anniversary and don't need more more :slight_frown:

On a side note, I was at the OH Wednesday early afternoon with an out of town co-worker, and somehow a few cases of all the collabs were returned and they were selling all the 4-packs. Managed an Einstein's and Potatoes, which was like winning the OH lotto.

I also did a side-by-side comparison of 4th and 5th IPA, and to my surprise, I liked the 5th more...and had much better memories of 4th last year. Definitely wasn't as dialed in.

Geriz was also pouring tastings of an upcoming chocolate-coconut stout from a bottle, it seems on the "lighter" side to me. But, I would anything truly "lower" ABV to be in cans...so perhaps it was the the contrast between the 15% stouts...

As a Rockland native, it's great to see D96 getting some love. I highly recommend mother of all photo bombs if they have it at the tap takeover.

I, unfortunately, didn’t have the time to stay and drink at District 96 (picked up 4 crowlers) but the next time I go to New Paltz I will be stopping there again. Conveniently located and nice tasting room.

I agree about the lactose having an artificial/chemical taste and I’ll add that vanilla in IPAs has a similar artificial taste so when brewers put both in it's even worse. Pours of both a Brix City IPA and a Magnify IPA with lactose and at least one also with vanilla at a bar recently had that taste. Blecch!

If the tose test is to prove that we can’t tell the difference, doesn’t that further prove the point that adding it doesn’t really add any value to the beer in the first place?
