These are the same damned beers, just with different hop combos.... It's a simple formula like choosing a DQ Blizzard:

1st choose your pale ale base:
    Hop Butcher 7.5% ale base
    Hop Butcher 5.75% ale base

2nd choose your hop mix-ins (select up to 3):
    Citra
    Mosaic
    Galaxy
    Motueka
    Eukonot
    El Dorado
    Centennial
    Sabro
    Strata
    Arcane Installed Hop Oils
    Belma
    Simcoe
    Chinook
    Vic
    Azzaca
    Enigma
    Hallereau Blanc
    Nelson
    Amarillo
    Denalis

3rd (optional) upgrade to a vanilla milkshake by adding one of our fruit juices:
    Orange
    Cherry
    Strawberry, Kiwi, Lime
    Pineapple, Coconut, Lactose

But the timing of it all is just so unique tho.

I prefer the Mikerphone DQ branch where they also have Oreos, peanut butter cups and M&M’s.

Except Grid and the Traveling Scientist beers are not even close to the same base.

Don't get me wrong they definitely have base recipes (like literally every brewery) but you are way over simplifying here.

I feel like they’ve totally shifted yeast strains recently. Can’t put my finger on it but all of their beers are different from the prior versions. Can anybody comment on this?

I will say that Circumpolar Cherry was a lot better this week. It's starting to mellow the sharp flavors so it melds together in a smoother fashion rather than tasting like juice poured over beer. I can envision where it is going.

Looks like Tavern Cut is up next, canning today according to their site.

I've personally been waiting to see Tavern Cut again. That one was, what I believe the kids call, a "banger".

As much as I don't want to miss out by frothing up the scene with lines, this is one of their best and if you haven't had it, try it.

PSA: If you're looking for any of the recent HB releases, the Ovie beer shop in Ogilvie Station had Cherry, Mirror Ball, Traveling Scientist, Grid, DDD, and Unwind to go as of yesterday. $10/can, a little steep, but not so bad if you're only buying one for a train beer.

I don't think that's much worse than a place like Beermiscuous would charge for take-home, so I can live with it. Breaking up 4-packs of really in-demand beer is god's work.

Still hoping 1 day Binny's does this and just charges like $5/can. Win-Win IMO

I think that is a good deal more than what Beermiscuous charges for take home. I paid $3.75 and $4.25 for Galaxy Traveling Scientist and Cherry Circumpolar, respectively.

I'm not arguing against buying a can at Ovie, though...just pointing out that it is much higher than Beermiscuous.

Please, please, please do not buy $10 single HB cans. This is how we got to $20 4 packs....

Shit, I'm thinking of it backwards, it's the on-premise price that has the significant upcharge, isn't it? I'm thinking about it now, and a "mixed" 4-pack of one of Dovetail's lagers only cost me a couple bucks more than the regular retail (take-home price).

Woof, $10 a can at "retail" is a hard no. It would be pretty sweet if Binny's decided to break up the high-demand IPA 4-packs as well.

I know of a few who break up the higher-priced 4-packs (Revolution, BA Moody Tongue) to get people who are on the fence due to the price of all 4 to at least pick one up. I was able to pick up a Straight Jacket/Deth's Tar/Cafe Deth "3-pack" last Saturday, and wasn't mad about it.

Ovie is basically a bar for people running to the trains, not a liquor store. They only sell single cans/bottles out of the coolers, and their prices should be considered "bar" prices and not liquor store prices. For reference, most of their comparable beer (e.g., Pipeworks, Half Acre, Central State) is $7 or $8 per can. Even something like Miller Lite is probably $5.

Yes - the onsite pricing is higher. Even then, the onsite pricing at Beermiscuous would be about $2 cheaper per can.
