Every time I add a beer with 0.0% ABV just a question mark shows up. Why can't I make the 0.0 stick? The ABV is not "unknown" as the question mark indicates.

Looks like you can't put 0.0 as all current NA beers are "?" or a number. You could put "0.01".

Because according to the dictionary it isn't beer, beer has alcohol.

A quick check shows that Maisel's Alkoholfrei is .5% abv so that one at least is wrong.

Merriam-Webster has two definitions, one with alcohol and one without, though I share your sentiments.

I totally agree, and I'm sure @Todd will get this worked out.

Technically (or tech-wise might be better), the value 0 (or its equivalent 0.0) is likely the default when someone doesn't supply a value and that is probably why it shows up like that. Something would have to be done to differentiate a supplied and a non-supplied 0.

Exactly and I don't think it has ever been a priority issue to resolve so it is probably sitting somewhere on the back burner.

It's simply a bug (we currently don't differentiate between null and zero) that we'll fix ASAP. @Mike is on it. Thanks.

I’m at a loss as to why this is an important issue.

Not important per se, but for the sake of accuracy with non-alcoholic "beers", I suppose it plays a part...

I did report it years ago so I just assumed that it got stuck on a backlog somewhere since it did not get fixed.

I don't recall, but it's been this way since the new Add Beer page.

Anyway. It's a very minor issue and doesn't stop someone from adding a beer. No ABV? Don't add one.

    Exactly

Beer without an ABV is like taking a shower with a raincoat on. Makes no sense.

    Some day, some day…

The point is being able to immediately recognize a NA beer. Many beers don't contain the information in the name. With "not listed" or "?" it could as well be a 6.5% beer as a 0.0%. But whatever. Being in the Low Alcohol category of course tells a story. But even there you can find stuff with up to 4.8% of alcohol, the highest 50 being at least 2.7%. So the information 0.0% would be significant.

    But I can wait.

It would be an important issue for Muslims who only drink 0.0 beers. Even .5% is prohibited in some Muslim countries.
