Could it be possible that their beers are inconsistent even within the same batch? Could be completely impossible, I'm no brewer, just a question. One reason I ask is because they seem to rotate between 1 large release and 3 smaller ones. Was the Tavern Cut batch 3x the size of the batch as these next 3 releases? Just wondering how this works equipment wise. I’ve just never seen so many opposing opinions on the same batch of the same beer, different batches of the same beer, and between cans within 4 packs.

I generally find all of their hazy beers to be too sweet but Tavern Cut was the exception for me. Still wouldn’t doubt that if I drank it side by side with another of my favorites from another brewer that it would be on the sweet side. I thought Double Grid was absolute trash, one of the worst $15 4 packs I’ve ever purchased. Can't chime in on the Galaxybowl debate but I love how it keeps coming up.

Is the 2nd release of Galaxy Bowl the one from last August or so? My goodness that beer was an undrinkable mess imo.

No, although I loved that one (assuming that was the real green one, which untapped says it was). 2nd was the Belgiany one, I think; I didn't have it. The First batch was legendary.

I THINK there have been at least 5 batches. I've had 4.

I agree. I’m surprised Galaxy Bowl is only released 2 maybe 3 times a year, that should be one of their frequent releases. I am all for trying new hops but I would like to see blazed orange/galaxy bowl and a few others more consistently. It may just be a price thing, especially with the milkeshake IPAs. Mikerphone is the same way. I love Check 1,2 but you don’t see it as often since they are always trying new releases. I think there is something to be said that since beers like Galaxy Bowl are only released a few times a year, it generates more excitement and sells out instantly. If they brewed it every month the hype may be gone. Hype=$$$ which is what it comes down to.

Galaxy bowl b3, the dankest of the dank, the stickiest of the icky, may be my favorite beer they've done.

I'm assuming the availability of popular and relatively limited-availability hops (such as Galaxy, imported from Australia) plays a big role, too. At their scale and especially as tenant brewers, they're probably hesitant to commit to large hop contracts. There's a reason you see so much Citra and now also Mosaic, everywhere - they're grown domestically and have gotten much easier for everyone to get ahold of the past few years.

Galaxy is everywhere now. Infinite Galaxy is just one example, Corridor's multiple Galaxy releases is another. Hopefully that trickles over to Galaxy Bowl as its obvious HB is brewing other beers with Galaxy.

Yeah, I really hope we're getting to the point that we got to with citra, where it went from a "everything that has it is a must-try" to "everything has it."

I simply don’t drink HB ipa’s for at least 2 weeks after release.

At least for my tastes, they are universally better with some time, and I’ve also never had issues with them devolving into malty pond water. Had an unlicensed nuclear reactor last week that was delectable!

I literally just drank my last unlicensed and it was incredible still.

It's funny because most of my friends have the haze boy attitude that if you aren't drinking it within a week it is basically drain worthy. While there are definitely breweries that put out stuff that turns to cardboard after a couple months, hop butcher is not one of them. If your hazy IPA's are oxidizing after a few weeks it means you are canning like shit.

Eh, there's an ocean between peak enjoyability and oxidized. I'd say most brewers strive for their beers to be ideal when packaged.

That’s fair but it is very obviously exaggerated by these same neckbeards chasing trucks that the beer is bad in a few weeks

Tavern Cut is quite enjoyable. Looks more like juice than bacon fat. Tastes less like onion than many of the style I've had, which, admittedly, is not many.

It might actually be worth some hype.

Tavern Cut might be my most fav beer of theirs. I thought DBO tasted like baby aspirin.

Palates weren’t wrecked at all. 2nd beer we tried all night. Circled back around to it later and the consensus was the same.

Well, that’s extremely concerning then, because TC is not sweet whatsoever

Consensus wasn’t so much that it was entirely too sweet. Just that it had a “odd” or “weird” sweetness to it. That said, I wouldn’t get “extremely concerned” about it. Just a bunch of nerds enjoying some beers on a Friday night...
