I see that 56's website is down. Just simple server issues, or sign of trouble?

I had read something similar to that. Sad situation for sure. They had a pretty well established business, and a brewpub at that intersection probably would’ve done well.
Their Facebook page is up and runnin’. Been seeing their cans all over town, too. Can’t recall whether they were self distributing?

.... I’m wondering if there is more to the story.

Way too many years of experience tells me that when one party goes on the offensive/defensive with their ‘side of things’, that’s actually where the root of issues lie.

    My opinion only.

Wow seems like a waste of a business. So nobody in the family is making any money now or what?

Um. I just went to their website. It’s working fine. Is this where we are at? Can’t access a website for a minute, so things must be going south for a brewery?

Fear not, I think I buy enough 'ssippi Squeeze and Nosehair Bender to keep them afloat. 56 started off highly mediocre, but did a tasting in my local shop a handful of months ago. Those two beers are excellent regular drinkers for the price.

An inquiry in the Forgotten Barrel Society Facebook page received some activity from others and the new head Brewer, but no commentary from ownership on the change. You'd think for the individuals paying $300 a year that some notice of transition would have been provided via email. That said, I personally felt the brews at Wild Mind were getting a bit boring and repetitive, so I'm excited to see what direction they go in next.

You'd think that, but the beers don't have to be any good when their marketing has sold them before they were brewed.

I'm not saying Wild Mind makes bad beer, but that no alcohol producer has any incentive to spend any extra money maintaining or increasing the quality of their products when what they're already producing is selling out instantly.

LOWBrewCo MN received their fermenters today. Brew house shouldn’t be far behind

I don't disagree. I really liked many of Wild Mind's beers until I went to Side Project and Jester King in a one month span back in the fall. Made me realize that a lot of the WM beers were not as refined as they should be, and many were so far on the sour/tart side of the spectrum that they weren't as drinkable as maybe they should have been. At any rate, might be slightly off topic now. I'll continue to support them as I have since opening.

I have a slightly different angle on this. WM had zero marketing at the time of opening. 85% of richfield residents had never heard of the place. Personally what I think they did, is product decent quality beers that a lot of people hadn't tried before, and roped them into the club. A good friend of mine is a prime example. Myself however, being a sour head, I wouldn't go near that club and I find their normal sour offerings pretty bland. But most people that step foot in there don't know a good sour from a bad sour. And now that people have been visiting frequently they are finding the repetitiveness. It's why they had trouble selling out all of the club memberships this year. I will say, I have had some damn good IPAs and Pales there, and I've shared a bottle or two from the club with my buddy that were damn good. But when you pit them against competition on the shelves, their pricing is so god damn bloated it's insane.

Go get a 4 pack of Jacobins and be done with it. Or Rodenbach Grand Cru, or Dutchess, or Monks.

It’s already got a listing here on BA, though the taproom is not yet open (and I think they’re trucking beer across Lake Of The Woods using speedwagons and sleds):

Thank you HeadRetention! We talked a little bit about the BA's sleuthing with The Growler, but it didn't make the article.

We're looking forward to seeing you all in our taproom soon! In the meantime, stop over on Saturday and say hello.
