That 2nd batch was horrid. Two sips and drain pour. Got my buddy a 4 pack. Same result for him. I bought into the hype. Never bought another HB beer until Neon Green. It was delicious.

Yeah, 2nd batch was a terrible time to get(Hop?) on board, unfortunately; right when they were in the middle of consistency issues and figuring out their yeast.

I'm puzzled by your expectation. What beers have you been drinking?

Just had my first one last night. To me, it had a pretty strong onion flavor, and I'm usually on the "I don't taste any onion" side when people say that. Still really good, and not as sweet as a lot of hazy IPAs, with nice bitterness. If it didn't have such a strong onion flavor, it would be close to perfect.

I've weirdly always liked the onion flavor in IPAs; I don't want them to taste like actual juice a lot of the time. Generally the flavor that turns me off is more on the malty side (Revolution), or just kind of blandly piny (Lagunitas...I think).

This makes more sense for a creepy vibe. "Hey neckbeard, I have some hop candy in my van for you."

I'm the same way. I understand what people mean when they say an "onion" flavor, like I get a hint of something, but it doesn't actually taste like a legit onion. And it's usually a nice balance to the sweetness.

Have people get haze from all over and set up a rad blind testing where everyone gets smashed.

Except us, we're drinking orange juice all night. Then we steal their disposable beer income and maybe some organs.

Many of this style I have seen live, and on this site, look like a glass of fat. It is not appealing and takes a leap of faith to drink regardless of the fruity aroma they offgas. I don't recall any specific name. It is just my observation of some, a relatively good sample set, of the NEIPA style.

Ohhh, do you mean IPAs with floaties? Like this?

(I find that most of those just haven't gotten the "style" down if they claim to be an NE IPA, although in the case of one of my all-time faves, Focal Banger, it's what the brewery is going for)

No. Just ones where the floaties are the entire liquid.

The haze, in other words. Kind of endemic to the style.

I've seen cloudy but, lol, never anything that triggered me to associate it with liquid fat. *shutters*

I've drank and seen a lot of hazies in the past couple years, and I don't think bacon fat (or any other type of fat) has come to mind as I looked at it. I have often wanted to EAT bacon the morning after, though.

General they just look orange juice-like to me (Tavern Cut is admittedly a more pale yellow than I typically have), but I also generally only either have stuff that is pretty consistent (Corridor, Hop Butcher) or is the more mass-produced type of NE style (Sam Adams, Goose Island's new NE IPA, etc.), which are usually hazy but not opaque and bright yellow.
