Haven't had Avalon for a while. Pretty steady with Flume. To put things in perspective, In my opinion, Battery Steele is putting out the best NEIPA in Maine that is in distribution. So if you're on the fence about it, you can imagine what Maine beer stores that are flooded with sub par beers are like.

The dreaded wrinkled label ruining an otherwise decent bottle pic. Victory at Sea used to be one of my favorite dark beers and then the flavor seemed to change for me a couple years ago. The vanilla started to be either too strong or a bit too artificial. This is my first one in a couple years. Tasting pretty damn good, actually. Always thought this was a really good beer for the money (remembering that its 10% abv), especially when the price came down a bit. May have to bring this back into the rotation. Cheers

Seeing Emmylou Harris in an earlier vid in this thread reminded me of this great song by First Aid Kit. Amazing to see them perform it at an event honoring her and to see how emotional she gets.

I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June
If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too
No, I'm not asking much of you
Just sing little darling, sing with me

    Last one went down fast.

    Now onto another new one:

Captain Lawrence Brewing — Orbital Tilt IPA
    Dry Hopped with Mosaic

About a month old. Nice hop bitterness upfront, malt holds up, medium/light bodied, super drinkable. Love single hop mosaic beers.

    Cheers

Fantastic imperial red. Insane lasting head retention/thick lacing the whole glass. Aromas and flavors of huge red grapefruit, mandarin orange, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, blueberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light toffee/nutty malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; balanced creamy/bready malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resis dryness; no cloying/astringency. Dangerously smooth, not overly aggressive, mild increasing warmth of 9.3%. Amazing Simcoe, Centennial, Amarillo profile. Super juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; with a great balancing dark/bready English malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Will definitely get a pack when I see it again. 4.26

I will not post the Doors song but this is the end. A few beers and several glasses of white wine which I hate.

Sadly, still awake but enjoying my music.

I really like Avalon, Flume is a great beer but it is the same beer A lot of breweries make. Interested in your opinion of Liquid Riot?

I wasn’t saying Avalon was bad. I think one of the hops not working for me. Checked online and saw that El Dorado is one of them. That’s a hop that sometimes works for me... and sometime I wish it was left out. This may be one of those times.

Honestly, I've had a few Liquid Riot Beers, They're a little pricey for what they are. In fairness, Battery Steele is getting up there too. If you can pick up a 4 pack of Substance for $13.99 at the brewery (I don't get down to Portland often) why would you buy $17-20 four packs?

Pretty much every NEIPA I have ever had from VT is better than most Maine offerings.

I think Liquid Riot beers are pretty much average across the board. I go to Portland a lot, Substance used to be a great beer so did Swish then they went the dumpster slurry on both recipes. Substance is still almost drinkable, Swish is garbage.
