Pixelated despite being brewed with a special Vermont hazy yeast strain poured out extreamnly clear. Even the people serving the beer were pondering as to why the beer cleared so much and why the yeast dropped out. The beer in and of itself taste fine. Very simple and very clean, kinda watery. It was pretty undedwhelming considering the hops and yeast they used. It looks like they been having problems lately with their 6.5 abv beers.

This batch of low vis is pretty damn solid and flammable material is truly a dense hop experience.

Yep, exactly. It just didn't have much of a flavor profile.

If I may intercede here, I heartily recommend Flammable. I may pick up some more today. Pixelated is good too, just not as advertised i guess you could say.

If I may interject Pixelated was not meant to be hazy nor was it advertised as such.
" Pixelated a new 6.5% IPA. Sometimes we see out of focus. We fermented this beer with Vermont yeast instead of our house strain and dry hopped it with Galaxy and Rakau " was both the FB and IG post. I think people assume Magnify IPA's are all hazy and that's understandable but Eric told me at the release that it would be more of a crisp/clear brew. Think about the IPA's that put VT on the map, they're great but are not hazy.

Go n try a pour and decide if u like it enough to buy cans but go into it with an open mind - don't expect hazy because it isn't. Its crisp n clean. Let us know what your opinion is.

Ah. You are/were a volunteer there for releases right, or is it the other njcraft dude? Either way you do carry their water though. Telling another BA to taste Magnify’s beer “with an open mind” seems a bit condescending. Mumbles knows what he’s doing!

Yes, I help on releases - have for awhile. What I meant by saying an open mind is it seems people have gotten the impression its a hazy IPA and have been disappointed when its not. I also asked him to post his thoughts because from what I've read here I agree Mr Mumbles know's what he is talking about and that he's been in the game awhile so I thought he might appreciate the old school/non hazy style.
BTW - I do help out but I've never carried water and I don't do windows ! LOL

I get it. I for one still enjoy the “old” style clear and even bitter IPAs.

Didn't make it over again. I try to coincide work schedule/meeting with the traffic to head over there. Unfortunatly, the location doesnt make it easy to head south on the PW/TP after pick up.

Based on this release I may try to make it Friday, that seems like my best bet.

Loving the new update to the website. Coming from someone with a web development background I can happily say that I am happy with the new design.

I am also glad that their is a greater emphasis on their flagship brews. I also love the addition of full can options via their homepage.

But overall in general I love the minimalist design. It focuses more on the content and less on the aesthetics.

That out of the way and said I do believe that I have had better iterations of both the current bathes of LOW VIS and Vine Shine. So I do think that some more focus should be on their flagships, especially since they see distro.

What made you think that? The darker hue?

that and off flavors... have friends who both tried at brewery on tap and bought cans and it was yellow, hazy on site, brown and different flavors out of can. Obviously anecdotal info for sure, but a quick perusal on untapped seems to bear it out - although many people seem fine with what appears to be the canned / dark colored ones....so who knows for sure.. In general though, aside from color, and maybe some bruised apple, carboard flavor, oxidation is probably not obvious to most people, especially when the beer is still pretty young... as the carbonation is fine, and flavors are not necessarily unpleasant, just not the same as an unaffected beer.

I had Stratospheric on tap the Friday of the week it was released. The pour i got was pretty clear. The first untapped pic above looks nothing like what I had.
I didn't really like the beer, but chalked it up to not liking the strata hop. I didn't get the cardboard or off flavors associated with oxidation. I just didn't like it. Which is a shame, because Maine and Intergalactic are stellar.

Thats crazy, such a drastic difference in those pics. There was definitely something off with the brew.

I definitely see what you're saying in those links, but as I look through the rest of the pics on untappd, it appears only that 1 pic really looks different from the rest. Maybe someone uploaded the wrong picture? I'm seeing additional draft pours that are also dark. If it were oxidized, wouldn't there be way more comments about off flavors (in particular cardboard taste)? Perhaps they changed something in the grist?

I honestly don't know, but it's a pretty serious accusation.
