Check again in an hour...the green label is what is showing

I've cleared my cache now and am seeing the correct label, my apologies for the confusion. I'd still be curious to know how long the green label has been in place for now though. Did that get changed after I reported it or did I see the wrong label all along even though a current one was already in place?

There are a bunch of edge of network cache nodes that store things like images, it takes a while (over an hour usually but could be longer) for all of the nodes to get updated with the latest image and the difference in what you see and what someone else might see has to do with when the caching node that you are connected to is updated (this is not deemed a critical piece of information that needs to be updated immediately and runs in the background).

Just sent in some duplicates today.

Is there a way for people who keep adding beers that are duplicates to have their "adding beers to the site" statistic to go down once the duplicate is found? I would definitely support this. Or maybe it already happens, me, I'm not sure. If anything, in my opinion, it would definitely be a push back to hinder people from just adding instead of searching.

After reading this thread, and after recently adding a couple beers it dawned on me that the style list from which to select when adding a new beer differs from the styles in the 'official' Beer Style list. I didn't count the styles in each list, but it just seems that a difference exists. The two lists are certainly in a different order. It would be nice to have the lists be the same.

When we merge beers, the earliest person who added it to the site receives the credit. Other gets deleted along with the statistic.

This is a little frustrating. I reported a series of beers that were added and labeled 'test' beers by myself, pointing out they had been put into distribution under a different label, and requested the names be changed to match the new series ("test" vs. "tasting room"). The change was never made; however, my beers have been removed after I self-reported them some months later.

Likewise, the photos I uploaded (which were for the tasting room series) have been taken down, but no new labels have been put in their place.

I still have the images somewhere that I can re-upload, but it is a little frustrating making a report ahead of the curve only to have it ignored. Especially if being diligent still results in my additions being removed.

When merges occur, the earliest created entry is kept but the entry is modified to contain the information that is desired (from the two different entries). The photo is not something that can be chosen and is always kept from the earliest created entry.

    I stand corrected. Thank you.

I reported the other occurrences for the site team to take care of at this point. Should I suggest name edits per beer profile in the future in lieu of flagging a batch that has been re-labeled?

If you know the name has changed, and no one has yet created it with the new name then request a name change - otherwise report the duplicate and indicate in the report the correct current name.

Yeah, I can understand how this is frustrating to you and I'm guessing you were probably not the only BA effected by something like this but you mentioned/tagged admin that were quick to respond with an appropriate comment. But that's why I said what I said, cuz I had that 'odd feeling ' BA's didn't know that they were losing add-in's on here, and that probably in turn effected their beer karma. Me, I don't give a hoot about beer karma, I would rather see a clean database of beers all over. However, I have seen threads where BA's mention they want a bigger beer karma.

I would like to know if I'm missing beer's in the system and be notified when my additions are duplicates. The bigger problem for me is I want to be given credit for my photos. I had a photo from this site used without my permission and I can say it is quite frustrating. I have since decided not to share my photos save for labels for this very reason.

The site editors did a wonderful and thorough job responding to my inquiry. I thought it would have sufficed to flag the brewery as a whole to avoid several individual reports, alas it did not. In the future, I'll take the time to make the individual reports. I thank them for updating me on the process and state of events.

Only thing I can suggest is contact admin on here, maybe even @Todd or @Jason , maybe start a thread indicating that it would be a good idea for notifications to be sent to users who are adding duplicates. Maybe suggest it here, sorry, I can't help you in that regard, it doesn't seem very fair to users who care as much as I can tell you do. I feel we both care enough about having a clean database.

The notification system comes from the forums software and is not easily extensible (on a low effort/low cost basis) for something like this though I agree it would be a nice enhancement - we have seen similar requests and responses for notification when Places submitted are approved, etc.

Understandable. I get it. But like Harrison8 said, thanks for a rapid and informative response and on a Saturday night! Keep on doing what you do. If no one else thanks you, I will.

    Other things to consider:

    1. Check the list of names on the brewery page before adding a beer. You can search with a minimal amount of words, using the brewery name, to find if a beer has already been added.

    2. Before adding a beer, especially variants, look to see how other variants of the same beer have been listed. If multiple variants are listed in the same manner, chances are that's the way your new variant should be listed ie Speedway Stout - Vietnamese Coffee

    3. Nitro versions of the same beer will be merged with the original beer, so no need to create them.

    4. When requesting notes be added to a beer:
    - spell check
    - not every word needs to be capitalized, just proper nouns or the first word of a sentence.
    - use hyphens when necessary

    5. There are exceptions to everything, but few

Weird to me that the Bros allowed users to have control of blocking pm's from site editors. To you to do proper editing, it's not fair. And not fair to the rest of us who want a clear and concise database of beers and places.
