Some beers do measure over 100 IBU, but not much over, 110+ a little is as high as I have heard about measured.

Oracle is high on IBUs. Hopslam has been stated to be in the 55-65 range.

Not only was Alpha Fornication deemed the highest (theoretical) IBU beer ever made, it was fantastic!
2400+ ibu only 6 bottles sold. :grinning:

It was literally like wringing a hop cone into a glass.

You need to do some internet searches. There is the solubility of the Iso-AA that comes into play. You can only cram so much into a beer, then it will not dissolve into the beer once saturated. This is like you can only dissolve so much salt into a glass of water, then as you add more after saturation, you see salt on the bottom.
The IBUs will drop as the pH drops during fermentation. Some comes out as the Braun Hefe. Some sticks to the yeast cell's membranes.

Read this. There is more out on the interwebs if you search.

Miller Lite, being triple hopped, is surely up there:astonished: . Unlike say, Shlitz which only has a "kiss of the hops".

2500+ ibu , saw a review online and the guy drank the entire bottle and claimed he lost his sense of taste and smell for about a week lol

though i'm sure you're looking for something that's both readily available and doesn't look like liquid baby shit...

so try mikkeller, they make a variety of 1000ibu beers off of the original platform, various barrel aged versions etc.

This is all correct, however I don't think it quite captures the whole story. The hop itself is a flower and contains thousands of active flavoring compounds. Alpha acids are primarily responsible for bitterness, and have a solubility limit somewhere just north of 100 IBUs, depending on conditions in the beer, as stated in the article. However other compounds that lend flavor, such as the fruity esters, should be much more soluble in beer. Thus, while a beer with 200 theoretical IBUs and the same beer with only 150 theoretical IBUs may have the exact same amount of alpha acids in the final product, they may still taste different owing to the other, more soluble compounds present. I imagine IBUs are probably a terrible measure of this kind of thing, as it would depend heavily on the strain of hop used, etc., but I wouldn't say hopping a beer past 110-ish theoretical IBUs isn't necessarily pointless.

Double Daisy Cutter is a most excellent bitter bomb. No clue what the IBU's are, but my palate says it's really fucking bitter.

No one has mentioned one of my personal favorites- Mephistopheles at 107 IBUs!
But more along the lines of what everyone else is talking about are Devil Dancer (claiming 120 I believe) and Hop Dam (I think the "high IBUs" they claim is over 100).

It isn't pointless or it wouldn't be done.
Some beers were brewed to a theoretical 250 plus IBU even in the 1850s but the brewers were well aware that there was plenty of life left in the hops and used them up in other, ordinary brews.

Greenbush Rage claims 156 IBUs on their label.

Another good one is Devil Dancer - 120 IBUs, IIRC.
