The universal consensus is whichever way puts a bottle in the hands of the person being asked the question. All other ways are wrong.

It’s so strange that different people have different opinions. What a novelty. I maintain that if you’re not hurting anyone in the process, who cares what side of this spending time in line debate one is on?

Shouldn’t care. That’s my point. The arguments are always the same for this topic and nothing changes.

Do you think line-waiters actually begrudge non-line waiters? Quite the opposite. Since I'm in the former category (when I have the time/desire), I think I can state that line-waiters generally wish fewer people did it.

Person A (on social media): I waited in line for an hour, it wasn't all that bad
Person B (quoting/direct replying to the above): I don't need to line up for good beer.

Person B is implicitly looking down his/her nose at person A there. This type of back and forth happens all the time, and to @eppie82 's point, it's useless.

To me at least, a much more constructive discussion is:

Exactly. Also a lot of people that say "there are much better beers out there without a line" are either ignorant or lying. If a beer wasn't good, there wouldn't be a line. There is also the fact that nobody is really making anything close to the marbles series right now. If any of the people who have repeatedly said there are way better beers out there have any recos, I'd love to hear them.

You do realize not everyone is in line to actually drink the beer. More's reputation allows people to sells the 4 packs for sometimes double what they paid. I seen people legit get pissed they didn't win raffles for bottles, not because they actually want to drink it, as because it was a lost chance at a profit.

You realize that the reason people can sell it for double, is because the beer is good? it doesn't change my point at all. There is still a demand for it. People who would rather just go buy a 6 pack of anti hero may think that beer is just as good (despite them never actually having the beer they say is just average, because, you know, they refuse to wait in line) but that doesn't just make it true.

And yeah, those people suck ass, and you see plenty of guys there with their disinterested wife mule, but that doesn't mean the demand wouldn't be there if they weren't there.

Obviously people are free to do as they please, but I definitely have to respectfully disagree with the ignorant or lying portion. There ARE comparable beers out there (and this is coming from a huge fan of More's IPA's and DIPA's). If people line up with the full knowledge that they could get something similar with no line; then full power to them. I am just trying to help the people who do not realize this, although this may be a small minority.

    Again, I LOVE More's beers

Can you point me to milkshakes that are on par with marbles? I truly haven't found anything close.

I think the milkshakes are a tough comparison just because there aren't many. Trying to think of others I've had, I really like Hop Butcher's just as much as the ones I've had from More (haven't had the Vanilla though). Of course, with those HB milkshakes, you have to be on top of when stores are getting inventory and get right over there within a couple hours...whether that's any "better" than lining up for 90 minutes is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

I've had efforts from Eris and Corridor at their taprooms on draft that definitely weren't on par with HB or More. I liked Mr. Shakey with Tangerine a good deal from Maplewood when I had it last week...not sure if it's the same level as HB/More. Also had cans from Energy City and Saint Errant weren't on the same level.

I'll say that Blood From The Moon struck me as one of the better milkshake IPAs I've had. I don't know that it's officially considered milkshake style, but I think it is.

Not trying to be funny, but I don't do milkshake beers. I think I have tried two but neither tasted like beer to me.

I had Coconut City on draft; excellent beer. However, I honestly don't think I need to list the number of comparable beers to it that are not a 1.5 hour wait for a $10 can. I think most people on here could name 5-10.

No, it sells for double because it is "limited" and "rare". Bourbon County still has a good variant here or there but, they are no longer going for 3-5x retail because supply caught up.

But that's not how it really works. On a beer which has never been released, a person buying that beer does not know if it's good or not because they've never had it. Sure, the person might have enjoyed some of the brewery's other beers, but until they've had this particular beer they don't know if it's a 'good' beer to them.

If it really worked like that, Ninja v. Unicorn would sell for $25/4-pack on the secondary market! But it doesn't, because supply/demand drives the prices; not how good the beer actually is.

But all of those things are related. If the supply is low and the beer is good, people are willing to pay extra money to get it. If the supply is high and the beer is good, people aren't willing to spend extra for bottles because they can get them anywhere.

If the beer tasted like crap, then no one is going to be offering double the value for it.

If we know More makes good hazy IPA's and milkshake IPA's, and even world class stouts, then it's a safe assumption that the beer will be good.

That's like wondering why people get in line for BCBS because who knows if it's even any good?

But bad beers will have higher supply because nobody will want them? More is a combination of being really good beer combined with limited supply. People wouldn't spend double on the cost of a 4 pack if the beer tasted like shit.
