If we know? You're making an assumption here that everyone agrees with you.
Folks who lined up in 2015 are nodding in agreement.
It's certainly not black and white, but no doubt there's an element of FOMO too. There are people who want what other people want. Hype begets more hype. It happens elsewhere too - shoes, the yearly Christmas 'it' toy etc.

I'm fairly certain all the people that waited in line with me agree that their beer is good.

If you want to say more has shitty beer, then go ahead, doesn't bother me at all.

I've never said nor have I implied they make 'shitty' beer. You continue to make many assumptions in your posts.

He brought up the point that people who waited in line don't even know if the beer is good... I said we (as in, the people who wait in line) know they made good beer or else we wouldn't be waiting. I'm not sure what assumptions you think I'm making, but bringing up that everyone int he world doesn't think more is good is just a strawman to distract from the initial point. There is really no point in continuing this discussion because there are too many grumpy old men in here who get mad at people who stand outside for beer

More makes really good beers. I've waited in line for some of their stouts because I think they can pull those off better than most anyone around (same reason why I wait in line for BCBS). Their IPAs are good, but I don't prefer them much over offerings from PW, Half Acre and some others. I always like to try their beers and often have friends that manage to grab an extra can or two for me, but I can't see myself ever waiting in line for their IPAs. Add in the fact that it takes me 45-60 minutes one way to get there, and it makes it a much easier pass.

On another note, I've talked with multiple people recently about how we aren't sure we'd even wait in line for the stouts again...of course, it's easy to say that when it's freezing out and they aren't doing lines for their stouts.

They do when a brewery opts for a lottery instead and the non-line waiters have an equal shot at getting bottles i.e. Mehndi, etc.

I'm guessing some in your collective "we" don't know/care if the beer is good and all they know/care is that there is demand and they can flip it to pay some bills...

I have never tried Marbles but I have had For Goodness Shakes Vanilla Milkshake from Short Fuse Brewery. It was pretty damn tasty

I think it is greatly exaggerated how many people get in line just to flip the beer for money. This forum seems to think 200/400 in line don’t even drink the beer when in reality it’s probably 20/400

I don’t know the math involved, but my assumption is that beer flipping must be vastly overstated. Even if you’re reselling something like this at 3x cost, you’re netting like $40, before expenses. I can’t imagine how that’s worth the effort.

Guy, guys.. its just beer. Can we stop all this arguing now?

There, I have completed the arc of almost every beer argument I've seen on here. We can all move on now.

PS - only More stout I've gotten to try was Mehndi. Actually won a lottery for once. To some extent, I appreciate them changing it up with release methodology like they've been doing.

Yeah it's definitely not worth it and there isn't as big of a market as people are saying for it. I haven't once had someone offer me 10 dollars for one can of a marbles.

With stuff like henna, I'd expect a lot more people to sit on bottles and maybe sell those way over cost, but not with a weekly ipa release.

Why anyone cares about "hype" is something I just don't get. And what, exactly, is "hype" anyway? How many people need to tell me a beer is good before it crosses the line from recommendation to hype? Shaun has established a pretty good track record, so it's not surprising that a fair number of people would be saying "Check out MoRE if you get a chance, they're awesome." Does that constitute "hype," people making recommendations to their friends? Seems like a meaningless pejorative that people throw around when they want to feel morally superior about how others choose to spend their time.

Seriously? I'm curious what kind of bills someone would be able to pay from this release. I'm not even sure I'd be able to cover the tab at Chuck E. Cheese with the profits from this one. "Dammit kiddo, I told you! No games until daddy gets his hands on a BA stout!"

I'll play devil's advocate here...someone saying "Check out MoRE if you get a chance, they're awesome" does not translate to standing outside for over an hour in February in Illinois.

Hype translates to standing outside for over an hour in February in Illinois.

    Make sense?

I don't have a dog in the fight, but hype is a real thing, and we all fall victim to it from time to time.

OK, so how many of those in line are driven by hype? And how many have previously enjoyed MoRE's beer? And how many just want to pop open some whalez at 9am on the Great Western Trail? Or is it all just hype hype hype?

I don't either, but it's getting really freaking tedious to see a bunch of people posting this every time someone is willing to do something for beer that they aren't. Why does anyone, other than maybe that one dude's wife who had to work and came home to some drunk-a** nonsense or whatever...crap, I'm off on a tangent. Anyway, why do so many people on these boards care how someone else spends their free time?

Awesome dude, why don't you go drink 'em instead of trying to sh*t on people who seemed perfectly fine with their decisions (at least in this regard)?

This thread was a lot better when y'all were arguing about Indian food.

For the record, I have absolutely stood in lines, in Chicago winter, for beer. See Revolution's barrel program for examples. As I said...devil's advocate.

And I'm glad I got VSOJ, in particular. I love that beer.

But if I'm honest with myself, hype had something to do with why I was there. Popping whalez is one thing...popping whalez in winter, outdoors, in Chicago, is another.

I'm not here to judge. I'm here to say if you found yourself out on the Great Western Trail...or, like me, you found yourself in a fucking industrial courtyard off Kedzie in December...hype got you there as much as the quality beer. This isn't an either/or scenario.
