Fair enough, there seems to have been some significant drift there.

Mouthwatering photo of the Modelo! Several years ago, I encountered a Modelo on a Mexican airline flight, and thought is was better than other pale lagers. What is Mexican Beer? There is the "big 2" in Mexico: 1) Modelo/ABInbev and 2) MoctezumaCuatemoc/Heineken. Modelo brands for USA (including Corona) are owned by a different company, Constellation, and brewed in Mexico by (and partly for) Constellation. I am not sure the USA Modelo brands even taste like the brands in Mexico. Another interesting brand split comes from Canada. Labatt USA brands are owned by North American Breweries (mainly Genesee), not ABInbev. Most have been brewed in Canada (I believe by MolsonCoors!), although some exotic Labatt products (Blue Citra) may now come from Genesee Rochester. Anybody getting a headache? Anybody want to do taste tests of imports purchased in the US against the beers bought in the country of origin?

Yes, following the ‘bouncing ball’ is quite challenging. It seems to me that @jesskidden has mad skills here and is able to follow and keep track of the ever changing beer industry.

As it turns out the business that owns the rights to Labatts is FIFCO USA: “FIFCO USA also owns exclusive rights to import and market Labatt Blue and the Labatt family of beers to the US.”

They also own a small (10 barrel) brewery in Buffalo:

“In Fall 2018, Labatt USA opened the Labatt Brew House, their first innovation brewery. The 3,000-square-foot innovation brewery and tasting room consists of a 10-barrel, four-vessel brew house with 11 fermenters. Beer is served straight from eight brite tanks. Visitors will be able to experience the brewing process inside of the innovation brewery and help Labatt explore new beer styles.”

    https://www.fifcousa.com/brand/labatt-usa/

You can read more about this innovation brewery in this Brewbound article:

    https://www.brewbound.com/news/fifco-usa-opens-labatt-brewery-in-buffalo

I am confident that jesskidden will chime in and correct any inaccuracies in the above post and provide additional details as needed.
Hopefully some BA that has ready access to beers brewed and sold in Mexico will accept your challenge here. That some BA will not be me since the only access I have to beers brewed in Mexico are those sold at my local Pennsylvania retailers.

    Cheers!

Unless you're looking for an actual Vienna lager or Munich Dunkel.

Current description on the label is, "Medium bodied lager with slow roasted caramel malt" whatever the hell that means.

Hell yes it is. Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I brought home a case of Tree House and a (only) a 4 pack of Nite Lite over the weekend. I've already finished the Nite Lite and have only opened 2 or 3 cans of TH. That's how much I love this beer.

I can get it just over the border in NY also, if that helps.

I'm also really partial to Zero Gravity Green State Lager, but don't really know if there's a significant enough calorie difference between the two. And Zero Gravity's in NJ, so that's kinda nice .

Probably similar to "cold filtered", or any other phrase from the Department of Redundancy Dept.:slight_smile:

But, overall, yeah, something more general works just fine for me.

Both are correct. What started out in 2008 as "North American Breweries" recently changed it's name to "FIFCO USA" (after its parent company, Florida Ice and Farm Co., of Costa Rico).

Probably because the Treehouse beers were all 8% double IPAs and stouts.

Picked up a fresh six pack of Green State recently. Damn good.

And damn sessionable too at 4.9% in 12 oz. cans.

No stouts but you weren't wrong.

EDIT: I grabbed bottle of doubt shot espresso. You were right.

When my buddy has a Treehouse night, it's super fun, but also super taxing on your palate and liver. It's just 8% IPA after 8% IPA.

The double shot is an excellent stout though, enjoy!

It used to be classified as a Vienna Lager on this site. I'm not sure when it was changed.

Nice. Hamm's is a great AAL, but I'm not driving an hour for a Hamm's deal. Maybe if I were a college kid buying in bulk for a house party, but those days are long good.

Stopped to buy a sixer on the way home, thought I’d buy some Coors in Steine bottles. Sometimes I like a simple beer, finding out I like simple beers more than I did a few years ago. Probably explains my current leanings to Pils vs ipas.

Let me also add to the above that I like it better out of the bottle than in a glass. In the glass the tad sweetness I expect from Coors in more noticeable. Perhaps beating down the carbonation a bit is the reason.
