Mockery Brewing Company - Salted Scotch

Beautiful dark amber body with a thin yet relatively dense head. Big malt aroma; roasted grain and rich caramel notes. The flavor brings out the toasted grain notes with just a twinge of saltiness; initial peek of sweetness greets the tip of the tongue; tastes ends with some nice nutty and subtle bitterness. Medium bodied; a bit fizzy yet leaving a well-rounded warmth throughout; balanced, deep sweetness with a touch of dryness.

This beer is a warm and inviting ale, malt-forward with corresponding rich maltiness punctuated with a whisper of saltiness.

Samuel Smith was THE late 90's "you earned it" craft beer, while in college. A new CD and a Samuel Smith was all I needed disposable income for.

Same. Last time I went to see Spence it went 1 round so I'm just pumped to see a great scrap. Would love to see Mikey pull off a decision, though. Cheers!

Haha, I’m right there with you on that. Sammy Smith was $4 a bottle, that was so expensive back then.

This Quad aged in Cognac barrels seems a little past its prime at 6-7 years old now, which kinda says to me that Quads don't necessarily get better with age. Completely flat, with some oxidation apparent, but still some lovely cognac barrel, dark fruit and spice notes.

Thrilled to buy (and review as among the first) this at brewers tonight. It looks as good as it tastes.
    a) Dark, grand marnier body that throws up a good lace and a ring of last.
    s) Crazy strong brandy, http://www.grand-marnier.com/ nose and taste. So happy the coconut not overone (as it is over at (Death by... Oskars)
    t) Amazing that beer is so brandy-like with essence and distillation of orange-brandy with hint of coconut.
    f) Smooth sipper, long in the draw. totally worth the price. Sip, meditate, simmer. Totally let it resolve to cask temp!
    o) Hard to discern between French and St Kitts the best of the coffee series? St Kitts by a husk of a tiny margin.

Thrilled to be first reviewer of the HOOK. Happy name for our community as it lays inside the bayward curve of Sandy Hook that separates our bay shores from the Atlantic, and over which we see Manhattan gliding silver, golden, or gray - depending on the time of day.
    A) This beer slams forward with fruit in the late hopped NE pale style. Hazed bomb with puffy white lacing and lasting head.
    S) Fruit I wanted to dive in. Hop fresh barrel.
    T) Hop fruit wheat treat.
    F) Slick, finishes clean and bitey.
    O) One of the best contemporary NE style late hopped fruit pale ales ever.

In Berlin 2019, this was the best Hefe I've ever tasted. 500ml bottle,
    a) How could you not high mark this hazed, amber body that mounts a massive head that rises/puffs the best height, then lashes and laces the glass all the way down?
    s) Or the fresh fruit, lemony, banana bread, flower closet, herbal aromas?
    t) Or the fruity, lemony, banana bread box, yeast, spice, pepper, flavors all tempered by a chalky, soft earthy dryness?
    f) Finished by chalky, aspirin, powdery, dry finish?
    o) Perhaps it must be enjoyed fresh - I suspect so - based on the rating divergence.

Faintly hazy honey-amber body; thick and creamy white head. Strong malt aroma with a minor dull pine and citrus component. Excellent balanced flavors of simple malt base and pine resin; nice, well-rounded bitterness. Medium-heavy body; some dull residual sugar heft yet overall dry and crisp; some alcohol heat and warmth.

A pretty solid IPA, not to extreme and certainly not dull and uninspiring. Appealing in nearly every category with a nice alcohol edge to things.

I'm in the middle of fitting fenders on a new bike which is simple but fiddly and harder than it needs to be. I do enough riding in the rain for it to pay off eventually. Official is pretty good, but won't replace Two-Hearted .
