I liked river trip more than you and we seem to feel the same way about the Luppolo. I’d love both of these priced/formatted like House Lager (my go to). It’d really put them into heavy rotation. I guess they’ll be rotated in sporadically because I thought they were great.

Moving on: Besides the obvious (Notch/Jacks) anyone doing dark Czech style lagers?

I’ve only had one beer from Fox Farm. A really well done mixed fermentation saison. I’m really interested to learn more. Just far away.

Wow, that looks excellent. I also appreciate the use of the proper style name.

I don't know if I've ever had a beer from these guys (I've heard of them). They seem very "Hill Farmstead-esque".

Yup, really enjoyed this one as well. Glad to see more of this style popping up.

When my fiancee and I went to Fox Farm a few months ago, they had a whole line up of pilsner, farmhouse, Czech style lagers, etc. They are all by far the best beers we had there, IMO. I appreciate Fox Farm's IPAs, but their lagers etc. are where they are at their best.

Looks like Rye on Rye is back in the form of Rye on Rye 6 (aged in 6-year Templeton Rye barrels). Landed at CBC Westford.

I don't have a good sense of how notable this is, but Rapid Liquors has 20 or so bottles of hand lableled Shorts beers. The group is labeled 'Leftovers from Extreme Beer Fest' so I assume it's a bunch of one-offs.

Thought it might be of interest to somebody.

Great haul at Ball Square this weekend.

Paulaner Hefeweizen/Helles cans (canned in January!) for only $7.99 per four pack. Made the other beers seem absurdly expensive.

Like Irish Table from Fonta Flora, a 4.6% Dry Irish Stout for $17. More than both four packs of Paulaner.

Also snagged Avalon from Battery Steele ($20 for a 7.5% IPA).

But there were some good values too, like Von Trapp Helles in cans.

Had to grab some Guinness, and also Irish Farewell from Abandoned Building (love this beer).

Finished it off with some singles of Sam Smith's Nut Brown and Organic Lager in cans, and another can of Heavy Trommel.

Almost escaped without buying a single IPA...almost.

I stopped in at the new Formaggio Kitchen in Kendall Sq (94 Hampshire St, right next to Lord Hobo). It opened in Dec, I think. The Kendall location is smaller than the Huron Ave location, but they have a nice beer selection. I wasn't beer shopping at the time, but noticed they had several offerings from Fonta Flora.

Seriously! Economies of scale become essentially magic at a certain point. I don't even understand how you can send four packs of tap water across the ocean at that price point.

Thanks for the heads up - definitely heading out to grab that Paulener Helles given how much I like their Oktos.

Absolutely. Every time perusing the store, I'll still flip a bitburger 4 to see how fresh it is. And it's still incredibly hard to turn down most of those founders 15pks at a dollar a beer

Plaistow NH. “The City” beer & tobacco store up the street a bit is cool as well. Nice selection at reasonable prices.

Yeah, The City is pretty decent. Decent selection of northern NE beers. Cheapest Stoneface around. Always get a great selection of Lawson's too.

The price difference didn't deter me from buying the far more expensive US craft beers. But I did find it interesting.

Just bear in mind it's called, "Paulaner Original Munich Lager", so don't go searching for a "Paulaner Helles".

Had no idea there was a "The City" in Plaistow. I've probably driven by this hundreds of times. I always go to the one in Hampton. Thanks! And I'm dumb...

While in Boston yesterday I stopped at Whole Foods Ink Block in the south end. Picked up the Castle Island Social Studies mosaic IPA. Suburb. Highly recommend trying it if any of y'all see it around.

Edit: Superb is what I meant...and that may have been too strong of a word anyway. It's very very good and worth trying.
