You're missing the point. I'm not worried I'll get wiped out. I'm worried that they have no way to wipe out repeat entries based on the info they collected and thus they can't police for people abusing the system with multiple email addresses. So basically there's no way to stop people from entering multiple times.

Don't they physically check your ID at the purchase of the bottle and then their system stores the credit card used so that if you swing in again for the same bottle and try to use the card, you get denied? That's what I remember reading a few years back at least.

That doesn't stop the increased chance to win by spamming the entries before hand...

I suppose they could track the IP address unless the person went around to 10 different neighbors houses to sign up, but at that point, he kind of deserves the win...

I wouldn't worry about it too much. It is a random lottery and the price tag is prohibitive for most people. If Mike Smith wants to buy 10 bottles of Anne at a cost of $1000.00, all the power to him.

Cost prohibitive? When was the last time you strolled thru the Florida, Southern Cali or STL beer scene?

I think you're thinking of this the wrong way. The concern isn't that one person is going to win 10 times and end up with 10 bottles of Ann (they will be checking ID's during pickup).

The concern is that one person is going to be allowed to enter 10 times (or 100 or 1,000) with no way for the ticketing broker to filter out the duplicates as long as the offender uses different email accounts / IP addresses.

So if someone has a common enough name as not to flag in their system, and wants to enter extra times to increase their odds over the rest of us, there doesn't appear to be any way to prevent that. And if they win multiple times, they can simply show up for 1 of the dates, or dishonestly show up for all winning dates and see if HF catches on during pickup. Certainly a risk considering how we've seen them pull people out of line and ban them for selling bottles, but you know someone will chance it based on where the secondary market for this bottle is sure to reach.

Thank you. This what I was trying to get at. They should require a unique drivers license or some other ID to enter. You need a CC and matching ID to pick it up anyway.

Never. Wasn't aware that many beers out there carried $100.00 price tag. Not to say it isn't fairly priced, I just think the price tag would prevent people from trying to grab 10 bottles. Who knows though, people are nuts.

People hire homeless mules and pay them to buy as many allotments as they can physically bring and fit in their car. They go home with hundreds of bottles priced at $35 minimum each.

I stood in line before an event with two completely different people who flew in to Tampa to get tickets sold only in person and flew back home same day, just to fly back in and acquire their bottles and go to a couple hours long festival.

Shit is absolutely bananas right now.

Or, supposedly prostitutes, as was the case with an old Bullfrog release; nonetheless, the former probably gets one a better rate

You can't even be mad at that. Hiring homeless people to mule beer is so out of control that it is hilarious.

what's worse - paying homeless to buy beer or paying them to wait in line outside phish shows so people can get the rail without the wait? that definitely used to happen, but not sure these days.

Yeah, but even then, the most they can get is 4 bottles. You can enter a billion email addresses per day and still only win one bottle per day. This doesn't seem like something for people to freak out about.

You can only win one bottle total, even if you sign up for all four days.

If people enter dozens of times each, yes they can only pick up one bottle per day. But if they win 10x each day that means that 9 people can't win that day. What happens to the bottles they can't buy repeat tickets for? Will they hold a repeat raffle? Doubt it.
There is currently no consequence for entering hundreds of times. If you win 100 times on a day, yes you can get 1 bottle. But you still got your bottle and by winning 100 times you effed others that didn't win.

They won't know the same Mike Smith entered 100 times and won 25 times until he only buys 1 ticket. Or 4 across 4 days. Then they have 24 tickets unsold.
