I tried it probably around last summer. It was solid but, I haven't tried it since if that tells you anything. If I remember correct it has the mouthfeel and sweet body, just needs more fruit and maybe some rindy edge.

Old workmate of mine runs that place so every beer they make is good, is that biased? Actually, I think I rated it more than Le Jus

Had the most recent King Sue last night. It was certainly good. But it tasted like something good I can find (Boss Tweed, Hop Butcher, etc). My lament is that I miss the original King Sue and I actually cant find something that tastes similar to it. I’m cool with TG making haze, I just wish they made them as new beers.

    Profile pic checks out.

What was the OG version like? I've only ever had their beers hazy, so I have no reference point.

Ever had Maine Dinner? That’s the closest comparable to me.

It wasn’t see through so it was hazy in the Alchemist sort of way. Not a ton of malt and not very bitter, insanely hoppy and fruity but with enough bitterness to be balanced

I’ve seen Jurassic Park. If you can find an old trophy bomber, we can swab for DNA and get this party started.

    What could go wrong?

Don't play coy. Being the resident chaos muppet, you've done the math on exactly the odds of what could go wrong.

So you’re saying it’s time to Cellar and age our hops? Good thing I’ve been doing that with Hopslam for the last 13 months!

Rather, the empty trophy bottles people use to decorate their breweries/domiciles/undergroundapocalypsebunkers.

But hops were added as a preservative originally, so makes sense. I’ve had a number of aged hoppy beers I’ve enjoyed quite a bit. I’ve put a year on Lagunitas Waldo, bell’s Hopslam, and HA Galactic double daisy cutter with success.

The lattermost was a total accident - buried in the back of a beer fridge. I told the HA guy I was going to a side-by-side and he said I should dump the old one. It was a great experiment, and while everyone enjoyed the fresh one more, they also enjoyed the old one and thought it had unique merits.

Your post reminded me that Waldo is coming back which will be a fun 6’er to work through (slowly of course)

Could be wrong but I think only bombers this year for Waldo’s ala Willetized.

I think OG king sue was a tad more malt character, and not quite as dry, and not overhopped.

When I drink Sue now, I think “damn that’s a lot of Citra”. When I drank OG king sue, I thought “omg, how do they get these flavors from hops alone”

LOL. Right? It's like they sat down and said how can we make this less appealing to sell?

Guy 1: I've got it! Use a format no one really likes anymore and increase the price?

Guy 2: Let's put it in a box set and force people to buy 2 glasses they don't need or want too!

Guy 3: Let's put our most desirable IPA in a bomber!

Boss: Genius! Pay more attention to Guy 3 boys, he's going places.

Yeah man, it's so weird! Like, everyone loved Waldo's in a 6-pack; great beer, great deal, great format. Who the hell wants it in a bomber? Especially to the exclusion of the other format (I can at least justify the Willetized thing based on other BA beers, although it's depressing given that it also used to be in a 6-pack).

Was Waldos easy to obtain? The only reason I could think of for bombers would be to give more people an opportunity to purchase if this was selling out too fast in 6 packs.
