Twin Cities Bottle Hunt - 2019

WELDWERKS: Total Wine had Alpha Bits, but the Hy-Vee across the lot in Mendota Heights also had TBD (a very nice DIPA).

 

What prices are people seeing for KBS? I saw a rumor (can't recall where) that someone saw it for $16.99. Worth picking up at that price, but not for the $23 or so it's been at the last few years, IMHO.

 

Yeah, it was $22 or $23 at Lunds and Byerlys downtown yesterday. Haven't seen it anywhere else yet.

 

Believe it was $23 at Total Wine.

 

$6.37 a single at my local family-owned store. I'd rather pay that there (and I did) than save a few bucks at a chain like TW. (Not to mention the longer drive, more traffic, etc.)

 

Was able to snag both Weldwerks JB and Apollo's. Also picked up one of each hoof hearted Dork's and permanent marker. However, I'm a little annoyed after getting home to find out that the HH beers are contracted brewed. Haven't tried them yet but generally feel cheated since they aren't actually brewed by HH.

 

So you are willing to pay and purchase this @ $1.50/bottle less for a beer you professed that " the longer these ex-whales sit on the shelf the happier i am". Either you like/want it or you dont. If $6 for the 4pk changes your mind why complain that you hope it sits on the shelf. LOL

Alpha Bits IMO is the best of the bunch so far from the 3 from WW here in MN and the (2)Hoof Hearted offerings.

 

It's an ex-whale. I am happy to see ex-whales sit on shelves for longer periods of time. It means they are more available. I've never thought KBS was anything other than "very good". Thus I'm not willing to pay a big premium over, say, Central Water BBS or Boulevard Whiskey Stout or the like. I hope that is clear.

I know you're trying to be clever. but perhaps you should read more carefully.

I would say their recent controversy is more than reason enough to not buy KBS.

I would caution: the actual facts are not clear. (Unless @Nivek43 has inside information?)

These days, I am very hesitant to join social media pitchforks and torches mobs, including the somewhat better behaved mobs that form on BA.

 

These cases happen a lot, often without any merit. Just bitter ex-employees looking to get a nice pay out.
