It’s sunday and I am drinking Maredsous Brune, which I have never had before. You know what that means? A little effort and review in NBS when it will be started. Awake and arise @cjgiant

2018 is tasting amazing. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty dark roast coffee, caramel, toffee, vanilla, brown sugar, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, dark fruit, oak char, and smoke. Mild roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and full body; with a very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel. Light stickiness, chalky roast, oak tannins, and increasing dryness. Minimal warming 12.3%, zero barrel booze. Unbelievably smooth. Perfectly balanced rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee, and bourbon barrel presence/integration. Still have plenty left of this batch, and got 1 2019 pack so far, but still more on the shelf currently. I think it gets a bit better after a year. Smoother/silkier.

Amazing NEIPA as always. Aromas and flavors of huge tangerine, orange juice, red grapefruit, pineapple, peach, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, blueberry, gooseberry, lemon zest, orange peel, and light pepper/pine hops; with balanced honey, wheat, toasted bread, light caramel malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; very creamy, silky, bready malt mouthfeel; light sticky hops and slight resins. Slightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, never astringent. Super smooth/soft, 7%. Used to be Boxer, but some legal crap made them change the name. I slightly prefer it over M43. More malty from the Vienna/Munich malts; and also prefer the hop profile more because of Equinox/Mosaic additions. Old Nation is making the best NEIPAs in the state. Always have all of them in the fridge now.

Outstanding sour witbier. Aromas and flavors of big tart/sour lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, citrus peel/zest, pineapple, peach, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, white grape/wine, coriander, peppercorn, oak, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bready malts; lighter notes of oaken vanilla, leathery/musty/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tart/sourness, Brett tang, and yeast/coriander/oak spiciness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/grainy wheat, lactic acid, Brett tang; some spice stickiness and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tangy dryness, no pucker/astringency. Very flavorful/refreshing, not overly lactic, 5.4%. Fantastically well rounded Brett, Bacteria, Witbier yeast complexity, with balanced spices; nice pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity, and overall oak presence. Glad I got the 4 pack, might get another. Looking forward to more in this format from them soon.

It's not spectacular but it is refreshing . . .

Deep copper gold color with good white cap and lacing.

Aroma of citrus hops and ripe mango.

Taste is hop forward that emphasized a fresh citrus approach resting on the ripe fruit tinged malt base. Mango is present from start to finish but remains a servant to the hops. I believe there's a touch of pine in the hops as well. I also find something in the aftertaste that I can only describe as slightly nutty. Don't know where that comes from but I like it.

Fantastic as always. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, molasses, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, dark bread, fudge, and herbal/pine hops; with lighter notes of raisin, licorice, smoke, charcoal, and coconut. Some increasing booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop, roast/char bitterness; and light bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied. Very creamy, silky, velvety mouthfeel; lightly slick, sticky hops, chalky char/roast, and oak tannins. Lightly increasing lingering hop/char bitter, oak tannic dryness. No acrid/astringency. Dangerously smooth sipping; mildly warming 14.8%, minimal barrel booze. Spot on rich Russian imperial stout style malt complexity, balancing earthy hops, and amazing barrel integration. More impressed with the Cafe Deth, but glad I bought a lot of both. More showed up last week, with Straight Jacket as well.

This is still tasting amazing. Aromas and flavors of huge juicy/lightly tart/tangy blackberry, raspberry, elderberry, blueberry, strawberry, cherry, fruit skin/seed, raisin, plum, fig, date, red currant, apricot, red apple, and red grape/wine; with moderate brown sugar, toasted bready malt sweetness; with light notes of caramel, molasses, licorice, peppercorn, herbal/grassy hops, and yeast earthiness. Touch of booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light peppery yeast/alcohol spiciness, herbal/grassy bitterness, and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; creamy/silky/grainy malt; light sticky hops and fruit tang/acid/tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering tart/tangy/spicy alcohol dryness. No cloying sweetness. Mildly increasing warmth of 18%, minimal booze. Insanely smooth sipping. As expected, they nailed this. I loved it even more than regular Fort. Super jammy as hell berries, balanced fruity Belgian yeast complexity, and dark/bready malts. Not overly sweet/heavy for the ABV from lingering dryness. Will gladly get more, this still just sits on the shelf for the last 9 months.
