We all have our own unique palates. I personally picked up more tropical fruit than citrus. I did perceive a prickly carbonation level so I can somewhat relate to your comment of "seltzer". I will point out that as the beer warmed up/opened up (e.g., the last half of the glass) the aspect of prickly carbonation diminished.

If you find the aspect of "seltzer" to be not to your liking and you would be willing to drink another Mind Haze I would suggest that you vigorously pour the can into a large glass and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before taking your first sip. This may be a more pleasing drinking experience for you?

    Cheers!

Unless, of course, I under-calculated how much I owe. :smirk:

Assuming it sticks around as an offering I’ll likely give it another shot at some point (probably have to be on draft) to confirm or contradict my initial thoughts. I was more than willing to choose other beers in the fridge and leave them to the GF with that first 6-pack.

On a side note, I have liked many of their rotating Luponic Distortion series more, some of which have had some haziness.

    NOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Say it ain't so!!!

Is it anything like Emerald Rye from a few years back (2012)? That was a hoppy rye beer, though it was brewed with lager yeast, so they could maintain the "German Craft Beer" tagline and not call it an IPA .....

    Notes / Commercial Description:
We are excited to announce our latest year round- Schell’s Emerald Rye! Schell’s Emerald Rye is assertively hopped (hopped again, and again, and again, and then dry hopped) to impart a firm, dry bitterness and features the uniquely fruity, hoppy aroma of the German Emerald hop. With 60 IBU’s this lager rivals that of an IPA, but unlike an IPA we lagered it, giving this beer a crisp, smooth, clean finish on your palate. A biscuity malt foundation gives it balance and a luxurious, deep ruby color. A hint of rye enhances the subtle spiciness of the Emerald hop and complements the delicate notes of lemon and orange marmalade within the aroma. The rye also adds a layer of spicy complexity that leaves you wanting more.

    60 IBU

I miss me some Schell's, fo shizzle.

I say this in jest of course. Lived in Chapel Hill, NC for 5 years, which I know is a world apart from, say, Greenville, SC.

I know, but in truth Greenville is a great city and a jewel in The Palmetto State. It is a hub of German manufacturing and has been completely transformed from not too many years ago.

    Synopsis:
Quite a lot of sweet malt on this one. I get a very strong impression of candied oranges, but bittering hops follow to balance things out. Clean middle, and the finish stays citrus-focused. Excellent body too. Not my favorite from Aslin, but this is, without question, a solid dipa. Thanks again Charles!

That beer name and description make me curious, what hop aromas/flavors are you picking up there?

This new beer is also a kellerbier, in the Edelstoff style. Jack’s Abby’s Modern Hell
A hazy amber can pour is topped by a thin foam cap. The aroma is of hay and yeast esters, mostly banana. The flavor is bready, somewhat sweet and full. The finish is less dry than I expected. This is a very tasty brew.

I brew I've wanted to try for a while. Firestone Walker Stickee Monkee. Drank this on tap at one of the best Craft Beer bars in NJ .Stickee Monkee is a highly though of beer on this site and now I know why. The brewer calls it a Belgian Quad but it tastes somewhat different than the other Quads I've drank. It pour a reddish brown with a tan head that did not last long. The aroma is dark dried fruits and a bit of vanilla. The taste is about the same but includes a touch of Bourbon. The mouthfeel is full and the finish was a bit sweet and lingering. Excellent beer to say the least. Only had 1 10 OZ serving since the price $10.00. The bar also had Founders CBS on tap. I had that tap the 1st time it was brewed a number of years ago. Back than I though it to be a very nice beer but did not understand why so many others were raving about. I ordered one to see if my opinion of it had changed. It didn't . It's rated # 19 on this site but to me it's just another flavored Imperial Stout. By the way the CBS was $12.00 for a 10 OZ pour.

Thanks for getting the ball rolling, @cjgiant. I'm sure you're happy that UVA has made it to at least the second round this year.
I completed my taxes this very morning. It was a lot more difficult because I had capital gains on my mother's estate, something I (foolishly) hadn't anticipated. State taxes will wait until later this week. They'll be lots of fun too, because I'll be filing both Maine and New Mexico.
I picked this beer up last fall when we were in Boulder for a niece's wedding, and it has been sitting and waiting for me since then. This is Vanilla Oak Aged Yeti. It was bottled on May 11, 2018 and has an ABV of 9.5%.
In my snifter it was a near black color with a small tan head. There was a little bit of lace.
Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate, with a hint of vanilla.
Bittersweet chocolate taste, some char, again just a hint of vanilla.
    Medium-bodied. Alcohol not a factor.
    Pretty good beer.

My first positive rDev today. If tasted blind I would never have guessed “milkshake ipa”. Instead, this tastes like a lactose kettle sour, similar to what Burley Oak makes. I really like raspberry, so I’m all in with this one. Barely taste any booze or hops. Also not very sweet. The tart raspberries are the star, so I really dig this. Thanks again Dayton!
