I was hoping for a little more sweetness and peanut butter in it, but I enjoyed it. My fiancee mostly enjoyed the Gingerbread variant, but I personally loved it. I can get how the holiday spicing would turn someone off of it, but I really liked it. S'mores was also really solid. Got a bottle or two of each.

Had them all on draft at the beer hall this past Sunday.

I like the S’mores one, too.

I’m also remembering that I was surprised how much of the bourbon character came through the PB cup version. It was nice actually, but I figured the PB and cocoa nibs would have suppressed that more.

can you get Springdale cans & pours at the JA taproom, or do they have a separate place all their own for that? Or both?

There are some select drafts and cans/bottles to go in the Jack’s Abby beer hall, but the full Springdale experience is in the same building, their door is just a 1 minute walk down.

Eis Maker is absurdly good. Phenomenal barleywine.

Strong endorse for anyone looking for an off-season Marzen, this stuff is really good. Kinda works as an early spring seasonal, actually, as something that's a little more quaffable for those warm afternoons, but has a nice rich malt character for the still-chilly nights. Anyway, it's a nice little hidden gem if you're into the style.

(Also, apparently Jack's brewed theirs with Hudson Vally sourced ingredients, and KCBC did theirs with Massachusetts sourced, so that's kinda neat.)

    Nice.

I wonder if it will see distribution.

The Instagram post you're responding to is from a retailer.

I think there's a weird disharmony between the description of the beer as a sweet, malty brew with a clean finish, and the beer's name and packaging, which pairs a hop-referencing name with a picture of a hopgrenade. Am I missing something?

Oh haha, I just looked at it quickly.

I thought the same thing regarding the name. I figured it would be a hoppy Marzen.

    I can't do "crushable" anymore.

Shouts out to Fort Point's clear #1 beer destination.

They'll get the commuters, but kinda bad timing since we're at the end of the Bruins/Celtics seasons.

"Crushable" and "quaffable" never really bothered me.

But I never really understood when people said the alcohol is well hidden in a double/triple New England IPA.

There's 100 lbs. or hops in there and it's super juicy, not aged in bourbon barrels. It's not going to taste boozy. At least to my palate.

I've only been there once, but it seemed nice.

My favorite has always been Ball Square Liquors. For a place to be a top beer spot it has to allow singles. But this place checks off way more boxes than that for me.

Not even hazee, no C-hops, head messed up my boss pour, total malt bomb...

Good beer! Malty, clean, crisp, touch of floral qualities on the backend. Scratches the spring marzen itch, albeit with a name and description that indicates a bit of an identity crisis.

I need this and Post Shift pilsner in my life so bad right now. Best craft pilsners out there IMO.
