DC/MD/NoVA Beer Updates (2019)

I don't get why the the bulk of the beer is/was not for their Societies though, and sold in a more Bruery like manner.

All the "Juicemen" did/are going to come out of the woodwork, surely some are already lined up right now, just to get 4pks with "standard mule rate $8" tacked on to the @ Brewery price 4pk price.

It was a little off putting that they are creating this circus event, open to people who aren't members and don't buy Bruery beers... while the members only part was available for 45 minutes starting at 11am on a weekday. People join RS/HS to avoid standing in line for hours with xx 4pk/pp limits. I will not be there and it's no skin off my back, but seems totally counter to everything the Bruery has been trying to do since the societies were conceived.

I get they are trying to drum up extra traffic and get people (non-members) into the shop who wouldn't already be there, but this didn't seem like a very good way to (1) take care of their paying members or (2) get the beers into the hands of people who don't already stand in lines or drive to Richmond. All they did was create a slightly less painful way to stand in line/ take off work to get dat juicy joose, so it's still the same people getting, and not getting, the beer. Again, I actually am not in the slightest bitter, but I would have liked to get a couple 4pks of The Veil without standing in line, but the way they did it has basically no appeal to me whatsoever, and as such, added zero to the value of my society membership.

 

Damn, looks like EatBar in Capitol Hill shut down. Not surprised because they were always empty but it was a great spot to have within walking distance from me.

 

Anyone seen Oskar Blues/Cigar City Bamburana Double Barrel-Aged Stout or heard anything? I am looking for info on this one. Thanks ya'll

 

Came and (seemingly) went in NoVA weeks ago. Pretty limited distribution. Haven't seen it in DC.

 

A couple of DC traffic / Aslin questions. I’ve been to Aslin a couple times before so I know the deal with their set up.

1. If I get to Aslin right at 3:00 pm on a Friday, can I be back to a 5:00 pm dinner reservation in Logan Circle/Shaw in time?

2. What time would I have to leave Logan Circle on a Wednesday to get to Aslin before they close at 8:00 pm?

I know no one has a crystal ball into traffic on any given day but I just want to know if I’m crazy for trying these given DC/North Virgina traffic. Thanks in advance.

 

1. Yes but expect return trip to take about an hour or a little longer.
2. A quarter to 7? Should take 45-60 min to get out there

2 would be a better option if you can leave before 7, I’ve waited for 30+ minutes on a Friday (no special release, just slow) and then when consider the drive back and parking, you are probably cutting it close for a 5pm dinner res.

 

Trader Joe's Old Town just got about 15 cases of KBS 3/11/19. 24.99 a pack and no limit.

I think it is a pop up. Glanced over at it from 7th Street as we went somewhere else. Looked busy. Was seeing if there were any first impressions.

 

up in your home for a show on Saturday. likely to hit that churchkey place tm. staying in S Arlington, and looking for a close/local joint for food and good beers tonight. Rec's appreciated.

 

My favorite place is Rustico. It is in North Arlington but should not be too far. They have a large tap list and usually some very good choices.

Yea sorry, i'm a dumbass and mispelled the complicated world "Arlington" so was confused why stuff wasn't arising. Just found all the stuff from 2018. Looking at Rustico now.
