Anyone have a link (or name) to the Facebook group described above? I’m mostly just curious where I can find people discussing trades. Thanks.

I'd encourage people to check untappd check-ins

Why? Were you trying to tell people there was a new release without telling them?

There was a new beer per yesterday's check-ins. They must have meant to release a beer yesterday but didn't when Insta shut down. Many people were there ready at 5 based on this.

I edited my post while you were replying. Didn’t notice the time he posted. Thought at first he meant there was something funny about the recent check ins.

So I finally managed to get out to the Brick Farm Tavern two weeks ago and honestly I was kinda underwhelmed. Perhaps its partially because there were only two beers on, Skull Cup and Damnation's Bringer. While they were quite good, Skull Cup is probably the best IPA I've had from a NJ brewery, they definitely didn't live up to the hype.

I don't mean to sound rude -and I'm far from a "Troon-has-no-faults-defender"- but if a beer is "the best of A Popular Beer Style" you've ever had from a state and you still felt underwhelmed, then the issue might be misplaced expectations more than anything else.

I admittedly haven't had a lot of beer from NJ so perhaps you want to chalk that up to small sample size. Idk I feel like perhaps my expectations were driven up because people ask for silly stuff for Crowlers.

Lots of great stuff in NJ now. You’re not wrong about the hullabaloo around the crowlers. Troon makes some extremely tasty beer but the fact that everyone rushes out and buys up every release in an hour is a bit silly considering so many other breweries’ stuff around here doesn’t sell out nearly that fast.

That makes sense. I just hope that people remember that "demand" is an artificial construct that's often driven by things like supply and marketing and that it isn't necessarily commensurate with quality. Expecting that Troon beers are "good" based on people wanting to trade for it makes sense... expecting Troon beer to blow you away due to specific trade demands (coupled with trying only a few) is probably more likely to lead to disappointment.

Surprised that this release lasted over an hour...saw it late when leaving work around 6 and was like there's no point it will be sold out by the time i get there in 25 min. looks like still was some cans left around 7.

Thanks for sharing. Sent a donation for the little dude

Late releases usually sell out a lot slower. People tend to hangout until ~5:20 and then bounce if they don't see anything. Also, 450 cans. I was already home from work and had my phone on silent so I didn't end up leaving either, unfortunately.

Really?? I always thought most of the announcements were usually like 5:25-5:30? But I would definitely defer to you there as I've only been out there once for crowlers and once before OG style growler fills. Maybe its just the ones I see tend to be in that timeframe.

Hard to get there too much as Tuesdays & Thursdays are my day to grab the kiddo from daycare so the stars really have to align for me to see the post relatively quickly, be able to leave work, and it also not be a daycare pickup day.

Recently most releases have been announced around 5:15, so if people don't see any 'activity' - whether it be untappd checkins, updated menu at BFT, a "leak," etc by that time, they usually head home and once they do so... probably won't turn around unless they care to brave 295 traffic again.

But that's just what I have seen... I don't really follow the trade circles such as the facebook group that was discussed earlier so for all I know it could just be a lack of someone telling everyone ahead of time lol

Once again I saw the Troon release about when I was firing up my grill. Checked again after dinner and sold out. How can they process about 230 sales in 50 minutes?

They don't start selling when they fire out the Instagram announcement. They usually start a little after 5pm to get people out of the parking lot, then throw up the post on Instagram.

So there’s a sizable line waiting ahead of an announcement every day? Even so, still a lot of sales to crank through.
